We have been focusing on increasing the energy efficiency of our products along with other environmental improvements since 1994. We’ve steadily reduced energy consumption of many products in our portfolio. TVs are one example.
Our EcoDesign standards drive improvements in six Green Focal Areas, including energy efficiency. Plus, Philips Green products meet other relevant and well-known environmental product requirements. As an example, here’s a snapshot of how our TVs stack up against the US EPA’s Energy Star technical requirements.
Some 71% of all TV models put on the US market after 2005 met those specifications. In 2008 all new television models – marketed around the world – meet the Energy Star technical requirements. In fact all Philips 2008 TV models exceed by at least 70% the requirement that standby power consumption be than 1 watt – with the majority exceeding this by 85%.
