Philips AVENT - Packing your hospital bag

    Packing your hospital bag

Did you know only five percent of women deliver on their estimated due dates? As you near the end of your pregnancy, it's best to have your hospital bag packed and ready to go – it's one less thing to think about once you begin feeling labor pains.

Philips AVENT - Packing your hospital bag

Here are a few things to consider as you plan your packing list:

For capturing the first moments and memories

    • Smartphone and charger
    • Camera
    • Laptop or tablet and charger
    • Journal or baby book and pens

    For Keeping Comfortable

    • Your own pillow
    • Shawl or blanket
    • Sliippers or socks with threads
    • Comfy bathrobe, nightgowns, warm layers and sweatpants
    • Many pairs of underwear (or disposable underwear)
    • Toiletries: toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, face wash, hair products, brush of comb, moisturizer, lip balm, makup and hand sanitizer
    • Sanitary pads
    • Breastfeeding items: nursing bras, nipple cream, breast pads, breastfeeding pillow, a pump and bottles
    • Comfortable clothes to wear home (maternity clothes are fine-you won't be ready for your pre-baby wardrobe just yet)

    For staying busy and eating

    • Healthy snacks
    • Books and magazines (for when your newborn is asleep)
    • Music or white noise
    • Cash for vending machines and the hospital gift shop
    • A bottle with a straw (so someone else can hold it during labor or breastfeeding)

    For bringing home baby

    • Hats
    • Scratch mittens
    • Stretchy pants and shirts in different sizes
    • Warm, stretchy blankets for swaddling
    • Clothes
    • Car seat (It won't fit in the suitcase, but it's time to install it!)
