No matter how I rinse it after each use, It creates heavy mildew in between toothbrush head and the brush holder.

My dentist recommended this brand. I decided to try the cheapest one thinking itd be like those battery operated ones. Oh heck no! This baby cleans like a pro! I was blown away how white and nice my teeth looked and felt afterward! I'll never go back to anything else!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Erin89 Grows mold and mildew
I have used sonicare for years and bought this product almost a year ago for significantly more than 25 dollars which I didn't mind given my past good experience. However within a few months I noticed, to my horror, thick, black, mold and mildew growing in my toothbrush. The design of this brush is so poor that it's impossible to keep clean. I can't imagine this being sanitary. I am very disappointed on having to switch to a different brand as a result.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Vandrosia7 Basic Toothbrush with basic features
Heavy, loud and bulky, and the top with the brush head is screwed onto the electric toothbrush body. This cause gunk and mildew from daily use to build up on the inside of the brush head and on the body of the toothbrush. Rinsing off with water will not get rid of the gunk and mildew. I had to take a toothpick to scrape off the gunk and mildew.
It's a basic electric toothbrush that's the cheapest in the Sonicare line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ValD Great toothbrush
My battery operated Sonicare finally gave out after 10 years, so I decided on this model. I don't need all the bells and whistles - this model was a great value and has everything I need. It doesn't tip over, it stops after 2 minutes, no batteries to worry about and the usual high quality of a Sonicare. I would definitely recommend purchasing the Sonicare Essence.

Very pleased with this product. Began using my husband sonicare and needed another so I bought one and my dental check ups have been improving with the use of my sonicare toothbrush.

Occasionally the on/off button needs to be repeatedly press for the unit to turn on or off. The switch should work with one press.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PattyLynn Love my Sonicare, just ONE complaint
This is my 3rd Sonicare. Unfortunately my two previous ones fell victim to being dropped on a stone tiled bathroom floor.
Before i started using a Sonicare, i had serious periodontal problems. My gums were in horrible shape and there was bone loss in several areas. After 6 months with the Sonicare, my gums were healthier than they'd been in decades and the bone loss stopped.
My ONLY complaint is the shape of the brush handle. As i brush, the vibrations, along with wet toothpaste suds, cause the Sonicare to slide from my grip and i have to re position my grip on the device. Having to stop midway through brushing to reposition my grip has been the cause of dropping it on the floor where the housing cracked. While there are 'grippy' strips, it's been my experience that once those are wet and sudsy from toothpaste, the combination of slippery and vibrating renders the grip strips of little use. Naturally it's always a month or two after the warranty expires and the cost of replacing the battery is as much as buying a whole new device.
Instead of a grip that is the same size all the way up, could you consider maybe graduating it so it's larger near the head and narrower near the bottom? I think this could help relieve some of the sliding. Someone suggested positioning my pinky finger at the base to prevent slipping, but the arthritis in my hands won't allow this.
I have to make some serious decision as to whether or not i will purchase another Sonicare product when I drop this one. But i'm hoping 3rd time's the charm.
