Rated 3 out of 5 by Deep Decent music player for price tag
Nice power back up. Decent sound with sennheiser head sets. The kit head phone is cheap and poor quality. over all a good budget buy.

I bought it just now. When I plug it in the laptop, it shows it is charging. But as soon as I take it out, it shows it has low battery and it switches off.
I tried resetting it, still doesn't work. I can not avail the service guarantee, as I have changed country.
I bought this mp3 player with high hopes. Please suggest what might be wrong and what I can do?

I have bought 5 mp3 players from Philips:
5) SA5MXX04KF/37 (the one promoted here)
The SA1VBE08K/55 was the best one. I wish they did it again but with more capacity (like 16 GB or 32). But after 2 years the buttons didn't work well. So I started trying others from Philips (given it's one of the few with folders option)
I accidentally stepped over the SA2CAM08K/37 and wasn't repairable so I can't say anything about that one.
SA3VBE08K/97 had only one problem, the battery. It didn't last as much as promised and I had to charge it frequently.
SA2ARA16K/55 was almost the best but it had a problem with sound. When you're listening you lose sound for like half a second which is really, really, REALLY annoying. But it has great colors, capacity, battery life.
My last attempt to find a good Philips mp3 player was the SA5MXX04KF/37 the product advertised here. The main issue is the battery. It doesn't last as much as it's stated. When you fully charge it and take it from the USB it shows something like 90-95% (What? I only disconnected it from the PC) Then when you just change between songs the battery's icon changes. It has more charge, less charge, more charge, less charge...You don't know how much battery left you have!
Also, as I stated, I like folder view. Well, for some bizarre reason, the order isn't alphabetical!!!
I like the size and the design. Also the cost. But given it only has 4 GB of memory at least there should be an option to add a micro SD memory or something. Today there are pendrives of 32 or 64 GB smaller than this device so I know you can make something better or at least give the option to add memory.
So, summarizing. If you improve the battery and capacity or at least give the option to add memory and correct the folder view thing this could be an amazing product. I've read other reviews complaining about battery so I know it's not just me. I'd also love if you redid something similar to SA1VBE08K/55. SA2ARA16K/55 was also a great mp3 player if the sound didn't stop frequently for half a second on many songs or lectures.

I finally got my Philips GoGear and I would say that I absolutely love the sound quality of this one. Philips never fails to amazed me with the sound quality of their Mp3 players.
I am not a fan of big music players that's why I really love this one.

As every other Philips product this player has a very beautiful and considered design, but a poor realisation.
One of the best pros is that you can use it as a flash drive and just drag and drop any mp3 files you want without using complicated, user-unfriendly programs. But since it has no huge screen, I expected it to play music for at least 10 hours: nothing even close. 5 hours maximum.
P.S. I hope, one day this firm will change its development course an will leave far behind the competitors. Philips has everything for that, I don't know what inhibits them.

let me start by writing some good points well to think of it there is only one the design is great small and tidy piece very easy to put away but the actual value is zero
it won't sync all songs
songs which were downloaded on it played for a few days then the songs went missing or gave the message it is not formatted very strange
the volume is low can't listen on the tube or bus i got a good pair of earphones so its a little better
there is no radio
no songbird on the start up
the buttons are hard to press
the battery needs to be charged everyday even when i listen to it for an hour on my commute so the 15 hour battery life is all nonsense.
