I recently bought the avent manual pump after I had lost my medela manual pump. I read many great reviews and it looked like it would feel comfortable. I tryed to use it anow it was extremely painful. It was painful enough that I could not force myself self to use it and ended up having to go back to the store to get a different brand. I think that it would work well for women with smaller boobs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rash It did what it is supposed to. What more can you ask for?
It worked just dandy. No problems at all. I was really worried becasue I was pumping milk for the first time, but this product made it feel safe and simple. It never hurt or caused problems with the quantity of milk I produced. I don't pump a lot, but I feel secure that I have this pump ready when/if I need to.

Easy to use. comes in handy when baby doesnt breestfeed properly. definitively a great choice for First time parents (and momms in need to sleep).

I thought this product would help ease the stress of being a new mom having difficulty breastfeeding, but all it did was let me down and take a chunk of my already stretched budget. Poor suction. Very disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Tania The older one was better :(
I had this exact pump except an older model from my sister who bought one then didn't use it and it broke. I loved the other one so I bought the same model thinking it would be just as good. Not so. The part where the bottle screws in leaks and the suction isn't as good. Wish I knew that before I purchased it as I can't return it and would have rather paid more for one that works better :S

Waste of money worst pump out there . no suction what so ever and on top of it it doesn't even stay together. Have to hold the top part where the pump attaches to the bottle most annoying thing I ever dealt with. Good job creating a product that addds more stress to an already stressful time in a moms life. Wish I didn't buy would take back if I could.

Rated 1 out of 5 by AnnieOr Unhappy with the suction and product performance this time around
I purchased this same manual breast pump 10 years ago when I had my son and loved it! This time around the suction is horrible. I tried to take it back to the store since I was unhappy with it and didn't really use it. Couldn't return it as it states it on the bottom of the box and there was nothing that the Avent company could do. I chatted with a rep who told me the store should take it back and that they couldn't refund me because there was nothing wrong with the product. Well, not the product itself, but the performance was horrible and I wouldn't recommend it. It is not cheap and now I have to purchase another pump.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dragonziegen Bought mine a few mo. back while I was rounding the end of my pregnancy
Been using just shy of 4 weeks...
This manual pump actually gives me more milk for the time over my double auto-pump(Playtex). Also better suction than the auto. Sometimes it makes the area just around the base of the nipple sore where the suction can plump up nipple area causing the base of the nipples to rub on the sides a little. Ouch. Milk gathers in massage holes in the funnel leading to milk mess on detachment I've found no position that prevents this.
Still I prefer this pump, but I'd advise new users to keep each pumping session brief & keep a rag or washcloth handy for clean up before you detach.
Though I do wish that you had a choice in sizes I feel like this would fix the pain issue.
