According to all instructions from Philips the secondary outlets should work if a minimum 30W consumption device is connected to the Master outlet and that device is switched on. I have connected devices that consume 90W and the secondary outlets still do not activate. Very poor design and very disappointed. My next power strip/surge protector will definitely not have the Philips brand.

This strip performs perfectly. Other strips in its class need some adjusting to work correctly. This one performs as expected right out of the box. Additionally the cost is very reasonable.

So far so good.... I like that I can plug my computer into the master plug and my printer, fax, copier and mailing station all into the remaining plugs and they all turn on when I turn my computer on...

Plugged in every Laptop, printer, lamp and even a microwave into the "Master" to see if the Secondary outlets would work and could find nothing generating enough power for the secondary outlets to work. It goes back to the store tomorrow.

Agree with everyone about functionality of the primary & secondary outlets. I got this to keep my laptop charged. Unfortunately the power source didn't work until I plugged a lamp into it (with a 60w bulb in it). Soooo...in order for my laptop to charge at all the lamp has to be turned on. Defeats the purpose of keeping electricity down if you have to run a light - during daylight hours. Can't return mine as the box was discarded. Oh...and the box needs better instructions or a description of "how" this thing operates (since no separate instructions were included). Like everyone trying to "save the planet" by no longer printing instructions for anything, if I'd given this to my 81 year-old inlaws (like I'd originally planned) they'd have thought the "strip" was broken--because they don't use computers in order to get any kind of instructions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Abby13 I really like this.
It was a bit tricky in the beginning to figure out what to plug into the primary plug, but once I did it is amazing. I have my office computer plugged into the primary plug and my printer into the secondary one, as well as an air purifier, small fan and phone charger. When I shut my computer down in the evening it shuts all the other appliances off. It is worth the effort.

Rated 1 out of 5 by THISisJUNK JUNK!
Same problem as other reviewers. This unit only has two usable outlets. Purchased at a higher cost than other units due to the Philips "name and reputation". What a mistake. The device plugged into master outlet must be in operation for secondary outlets to function...this is not mentioned on packaging or anything that I can find. I'm guessing that no one would actually seek out and review an item such as this prior to purchase. All reviews, including mine, are likely the result of seeking a solution to this piece of junk!
