We just had a thunderstorm in my area. All my electronics are plugged into the Phillips SPP5085D, so I wasn't particularly worried. I left everything turned off until after the storm. Later, I turned on the TV and cable box...no picture. It turns out the HDMI port my cable box is plugged into was fried during the storm. Clearly the Phillips product didn't do it's job.
Now that the storm is over, the 'grounded' light remains green. The 'protecting' light has switched to red...after the fact. Gee thanks for the heads up.
Do not buy this product.

I bought this surge protector because I needed something to keep my computer/gaming consoles/TV protected. But just recently 3 out of my 8 outlets have stopped working. I am extremely disappointed in this because it seems to have happened while the surge protector wasn't even plugged in. It worked a couple days ago when I unplugged it, and just today when I plugged it back in some of my devices were not getting any power.
On top of that, ever since I bought this surge protector it was almost impossible to plug certain devices into it. You practically had to work at it for a few minutes until you could forcibly shove it in. Very irritating. Would not recommend to anyone.

the surge protector work well as a power strip i had my new TV and sound bar along with my satellite box and PS3 hook up to this so called surge protector. all the lights were on said i was "protected" until the circuit the TV was on got over loaded and popped the breaker. after i reset the breaker and went back to try and watch TV when i realized that the surge protector failed to do its job an my TV, satellite box got fried and my PS3 is not working like it should. i was very up set.
also the plugs are very tight and makes it hard to plug things into the power strip but that kinda is good thing to have a tight snug connection.

Well, I bought this product when I bought my new gaming desktop. I hooked up my 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers, my monitor, and my desktop. From the first day I bought it the entire ring was always red. But it still worked, until today. I was just on my PC when suddenly everything shut down. The red light turned off. My PC wouldn't turn on so I was scared it got fried, Well it didn't. Turns out I guess my PC was just too powerful for what I thought was one of the best Surge Protectors out there. I would seriously not recommend this to anyone.
