Works a described
I wondered with some of the negative reviews if this worked, but so far it works as described. You must have something plugged into and powered on in the MASTER outlet to make the secondary outlets work. It makes it much easier to power down everything. Only thing I found that wasn't quite up to my expectations was there was not a wide spaced outlet for a DC adapter in the switched outlets.

Had a 'green' and electricity saving advertisment
I wanted a surge protector for my treadmill. This surge protector saves electricity because it doesn't work. My review is like everyone else's. The four secondary plugs did not work even when I plugged in a device that was in the "on" postition into the master switch. There seems to be no explanation for 'unswitched'. The unswitched and the master were the only plugs that had juice. This is really very disappointing. It came with an Ameren Power Company mail in rebate. I purchased this at Wally World. I have my reciept and I'm taking them back.

4 outlets do not work at all
I have no power to the 4 secondary outlets. I always loose 'guy points' by reading instructions so I'm confident in blaming the item rather than myself. I did loose 'smart points', though, by failing to keep the receipt so maybe I'll use it to dial in a pellet gun scope before sending the pieces to the landfill.

There should be better instruction included for the switched vs unswitched
But, once you get the hang of ot, this thing does what it is supposed too. The hardest part, took an hour to figure out messing with cords, is the switched vs unswitched outlet. But i like the overall function and don't have any complaints. My TV, PS3, Blu-ray, and DVD recorder/burner all run on it with no issues. I need another one for my audio gear

Works once you figure it out
These reviews are great. I too could not get power from from the four secondary outlets. Once I figured out that the surger protector senses powers to the master outlet, then it made sense. I have the printer plugged into the master, and two laptops plugged into secondary outlets. Now, when I turn the printer off, the power stops to the laptop chargers. Saves me from unplugging the laptop chargers from the surge protector. However, it would be nice if there was a power switch on the surge protector just to shut everything down. As they say, Read the Instructions.

waste of money
Im having the same problem as everyone else. If I only wanted 2 outlets to work , I would never have bought this product. I have 2 outlets in my wall that work just fine. I needed the extra outlets, too bad they dont work. this is a waste of money!

Seconary outlets dont work
None of the 4 secondary outlets work at all. I read the literiture and it said they only are on if the master is plugged in and working. We tried this with several different components and they never worked. Obviously some Electrical Engineer at Phillips didn't stay at a Holiday Inn the night before he designed this unit.

Not Intuitive
I bought this product at America's largest discount store. To me Philips represents quality. However ease of use is impossible with this product. It is worthless. I have my TV, VCR and Sat Box hooked up. The difficulty is only 3 of the 6 outlets will work. I tried to hook up two reading lamps to no avail. I would welcome instructions on how to correct and use.
