Great sound in a small retro package
This is a great-sounding clock/FM radio that plays and charges my iPod classic without any fuss. My only complaints regard its use with an iPhone: 1) You need to use the free Philips iPhone app for radio station presets, and 2) Playing the radio while using the app occasionally produces "skips" in the audio, an odd experience considering this is still an analog signal and not an Internet stream.
The only other oddity is regarding the station-seeking function: you must turn the tuning dial in the direction you want to seek, then press the volume/source knob within two seconds to seek to the next station. Considering the two controls are on opposite sides of the unit this makes for an awkward, usually two-handed operation.

Would be great if radio did not skip when connected to iPod
When connecting the iPod for the first time you are directed to download the Philips HomeStudio app. When using this app to control Radio settings (like presets) the Radio sound skips/chops every second so the radio is not usable. This issue needs to be fixed since the radio is not practical to use without the iPod.

Looks great, sounds good, functions ok
I picked this up at Best Buy yesterday. I was very excited to have a radio; alarm; and iPhone dock.
First the good: It really looks great on the nightstand. The clock too is stylish. The controls are well laid out and work pretty well.
The not so good: The HomeStudio App which Phillips pushes on your to use with this radio/dock looks alright, but is very, very buggy. For example, when setting the alarms through the app, it looses the sound preference for the alarm. No matter what I select to wake up to, it always defaults to "Last song on iPod."
I never want to wake up to that, so its very annoying. I will keep trying to work on it, but its pretty trying on my patience.
For a small radio the sound is okay--nothing to write home about.

I absolutely love this radio. No complaints!
I bought this radio at my local Bestbuy store. I had been scouring the ipod accessory isle looking for a simple alarm clock/radio that I could dock my iPod to in order to listen to internet radio at home. I won't go into the details, but needless to say a bright blue gaming PC with loud fans isn't idea to leave on at night while trying to listen to sleepy radio music.
I've seen other speaker docks, and speaker docks with clocks, and speaker docks with clocks and radios with lousy sound. Nothing had what I was looking for - a simple good-sounding clock/radio that my iPod could hook up to. But then I found this beauty. I hooked it up at home, and it is amazing.
The sound quality is nice for a bedroom and it has good bass to it. The unit itself is a great size for my desk. I love the look and feel of this radio, and how easy it is to tune into my favorite station. The radio uses a tuning knob, but a digital display so I don't have to try and get it on the sweet spot like with a manual dial. I set it to 94.7 and it comes in clear as a bell. It has a dangley wire antenna, but no matter where I move it, my station stays tuned in, which was a big plus over my last radio.
Thanks to this gem I can now switch between my favorite iPod playlists, podcasts, internet radio, FM/AM, and any other device with the audio-in jack. My friends can come over and hang out, and play their music without any hassle. The free iTunes app makes it even better with a clock display, touch-screen controls, and a date display. I never have to worry again about what time it is or what day it is.
