yes with limitations
Received this unit as a Christmas gift, the only tv in the house that this is compatible belongs to one of the kids. I'm to cheap to buy another tv when the old ones still work. I can view blu-ray dvds on my external computer monitor, alas it has no speakers.
Recommend with limitations -- get a new tv or a sound system
in same area as the blu-ray player. I'm looking at a soundbar. Hope I can find one compatible.

don't buy this
nothing but problems. First it freezes frequently, just stops responding. The only way to recover from this issue it to unplug it from the outlet.
Second it has network issues. Specifically it takes 20 or so seconds to establish a network connection wether plugged in directly or via wifi. I thought setting a static ip address would solve the issue as maybe it had something to do with DHCP but this presented another problem. Normally it waits for a network connection before allowing you to launch netflix or other internet services. When setting a static ip the player doesn't perform this check anymore so when you power the unit on and try to go into netflix right away it won't work.
3. Loading netflix is slow. Loading the netflix app itself is really slow, and once you select a show to watch it's slow. I have a 2012 macbook pro and during a race I can go from completely off to watching a netflix show before this blu ray player.

Good, but product support lacking
Bought this player January 2012. Played the first two 3D titles I bought, playback was excellent. The third title will not play. The disc has a newer encryption, so I'm waiting on Philips to issue a new firmware update that will allow me to play this title. The title came out two months ago, so I would expect 2 months is plenty of time for Philips to do a firmware update, but the firmware on the player is 4 months old, and its the latest.
Would recommend this player to others, IF Philips can fix their poor firmware update support.

Use for discs only.
Plays discs, beautifully. Unfortunately, it constantly freezes when using internet apps, such as Netflix. Not only does it freeze, but it can't be powered off, it must be unplugged. This is my first Blu-ray player and overall, I'm very dissatisfied.

do not buy this product
Freezes often during netflix and disc use. Disc player is a bit loud.
Easy to use simple to set up. Remote functions well and images are clear
Has an audio plug, but have not set it up on surround.
Buy a different one.

Great Value
This player has a small foot print but lots of features and is easy to use and setup was a breeze.
Only drawback is the very tiny remote control with small buttons that you have to press firmly to engage.

I like the size of this product because is not so large and has all the specifications necesary to have a good expirience online.

Very Good Product
Took the unit out of the box and connected it right up, reset default, and configured wifi and netflix. Was watching movies in less than 5 minutes. Very Simple....
