Nice affordable starter home theater system
I just purchased this HTIB a month ago from Wal-Mart and overall (so-far) I am fairly impressed. I have it set up in a small bedroom (about 161 SQ. FT) room. Set up speakers optimally in accordance to Dolby's suggestions on their website. I just watched Avatar in Blu-Ray with DTS-HD and am very impressed.
Sound quality seems decent however it may be just me but it seems like it doesnt do well with higher frequency sounds (sounds low and muffled).
Maybe it's just the speakers but unfortunately these cannot be swapped out as Phillips uses their own proprietary connector on the back of the reciever. I'm sure you could replace with 3rd party speakers if you know how to splice speaker wire.
No HDMI input so no DTS-HD and Dolby-HD through other sources (for me PS3) because those only work with HDMI. If you want to listen to your blu-ray with "HD sound" you'll have to use the Blu-Ray reciever.

This is a good product,
So far, the sound quality is good from what I've been able to experience. I can't get the TV (that is, cable channels) sound to play through the system without plugging from the headphone adapter on the TV to the Music I-link in the front of the blu ray player. I may have to a digital optical cable to sync the sound for just watching cable. Watching/listening to Blu ray via HDMI, however, is incredible.
Other than that, the product easy is to use, navigate, and performs well. Will give another update in about a month after I move into a new home with a larger living room (difference in sound).

good sound poor design
the sound quality is great.
but the speaker wires werent long enough for my tv stand. also wouldnt work with my wireless rear speaker setup.

not what i expected
the remote controle is terrible, most of the time the buttons does not respond, and after pushing the button so often the system cuts its self off, audio is nice for a small room i mean it is 300w, dispite ciniva messages, i keep getting, on orignal blurays and some dvds movies, its annoying. netflix doesnt work in my region on this system, but works on the ps3 with no problem.

poor product
The functions of the remote controller are very slow, the netflix app doesnt have the subtitles function, the front cable wires are too short plus when I was watchong netflix it appear on the screen to press ok cause an error ocurred and while pressing ok the image never got away and it made me turn off the system.
Plus trying to get an update to reair netflix and never appear plus every time I turn the system I have to put the password to connect wifi

worked three months then quit, not worth the price
I bought this in september of 2012, the sound quality was NOT as great as it was represented, in december of 2012, not even a full three months I turned the system on to watch a movie, it came on to the "starting" page, THREE HOURS LATER it was STILL on the starting page, in fact I left it on a full 24 hours and it NEVER did start. Another day passed and it FINALLY got passed "starting", I thought maybe a firmware update or something had gone wrong so I tried restoring it to factory settings and it started working like it was suppose to again, hit the power button and in a few minutes it would come on ready to play a movie, this worked,,,,,FOR THREE DAYS AND IT QUIT AGAIN!!! I THOUGHT buying a name like Philips meant I was getting a quality piece of merchandise but looks like I was wrong. It's like playing russian roulette to watch a movie, it MIGHT work and it might not. For the price this unit was sold at, it SHOULD NOT be broke down less than three months later.

First one was broken, took it back and got a new one. Not loud enough at all, need to turn volume all the way up to watch a movie
I bought this product last night from walmart, took it home and it wouldnt open to put a disc in, or show up on my tv. Took it back and got another. I like the look of the speakers themself but they are not near as loud as i expected or was hoping, and I have a very small room and the speakers are really close. Need to turn the volume all the way up to watch a movie or play madden. Also the back speakers never kick in no matter what im doing. Playing 360 or watching a movie, overall not a good product.

speaker wire too short for rear speakers
speaker wire was too short, contacted support(?) they said they all come one length, too bad. we do not make and extension for this wire, you are out of luck!!
