The Perfect replacement in the new lightbulb conversion scheme. But . . .
My whole house is lit from the floor up and where it's not, we still use some type of halogen bulb. When I heard that certain bulbs were being stopped I kinda freaked. But then I'd have my Halogens. One problem after years of using them with Whole House Automated Control Systems I started to notice that I was getting claustrophobic. When they dim they go a muddy orange that until lately wasn’t a problem. These new LED bulbs dim but stay the same color temperature all the way down to off. Which has really “put a new light on things”. Pun intended. Also being that part of what I do is lighting design, I live for clean, clear, crisp light and you get that with these. The Philips light temp scale is a bit off and as any other manufacturer will have their own interpretation. But their 2700K’s (Soft White?) are right on the edge of being white with a touch of yellow (which is usually a bit lower on the scale), which since the dawn of time being that man has evolved with fire, is naturally attracted to the golden glow of candle light. White lighting (fluorescence) is for big box stores, security lighting and the not too soon death of CFL's giving LED a wide berth. I am afraid that the newer version of these with 4 LEDs and are marked 3000K (too white on the Philips scale and more expensive) will not be as perfect nor acceptable as these. I hope I am wrong on several levels. I bought a couple cases and now wished I had gotten at least a few more.
We’ll have to see what Philips does with this product line. I thought it was perfect, but then that usually jinx’s it and the good stuff goes away and we’re left with what they think we want and should have. Which we don’t and is wrong on many levels. But if you can get the 2700K, 7 Watt 3 LED version got for it!

Perfect light with no guilt
I installed this spot in my den to wash a newly installed slate fieldstone wall. With three of these spots I can illuminate the entire room using 21 watts total. I have no guilt about lighting this wall and usually dim the lamps by 25% so I'm using approximately 15 watts. The light is warm and and very natural looking.

Brighter than 50W Halogen bulbs they replaced
Excellent light quality, very bright and uses as much power as a night light!

Good replacement for halogen spot lamps.
I replaced all of the 45w PAR 20, burning hot halogens, with this bulb on one of my residential remodeling projects. The light appearance 'K" is as good or better than 45w halogens. Great at a distance of 8 feet or closer.

Beats the competition
I compared this to other LED bulbs on the market. They work great! nearly instant on and dimmable on the standard dimmers I had on the Halogens. The ones I have on a dimmer shine brighter than the ones I have on just a switch, which I find odd. I'm using these only in high traffic areas of the house, to maximize the cost efficiency.
