Great Product
I've been wanting to try one of these of years and finally took the plunge. I get up before sunrise and go from bed to a 24" computer screen. And it's literally painful to turn on the screen. Awful.
My brain loves the 40 minute sequence of lights. And turning on the computer is not painful anymore. I swear that my mood has improved steadily now for the last two weeks -- all day long.
The product is beautifully made but expect to spend some time understanding full operation and setup.
A smaller, travel version of this unit would sell very well. I know that I'd recommend it to everyone that I know.
Thank you Philips for making my life much happier.

I love this wake up light
I have been using the wake up light for around 5 mornings now and I thing Philips can take the pain away from uncomfortable early start. The design is great and it is easy to use.Sunrise simulation process is one of the best features. You can choose 5 wake up sounds or radio and you can use the light like a alarm or like a light in room (very soft).
If you are have trouble sleeping, there is even a sunset simulation mode. This prepares your body to fall asleep by gradually decreasing light and sound to your set duration.
Only the snooze button doesn´t work like I want. When I now more about all the features I will let you now.

Nice product. Solves a very real issue some of us have...read on!
Sunrise. I dig this feature. It starts turning on, slowly, and the birds chirp, quietly and my brain starts to engage. I find my feet on the floor and all is well and I'm not upset that my alarm clock has fooled me into waking before the sun. I smile out into the universe who had someone put this together to make my morning easier.
Things I dislike in an alarm clock:
1. I hate your loud lights that glare at me all night - problem solved here. They are more ambient light and I don't notice them at all anymore - brilliant!
2. I hate being ripped out of my warm cocoon of a bed to have to step on the cold floor. Your easy to wake system has my brain thinking we are waking normally as I stretch and smile that I wasn't jarred awake by those ludicrous morning talk shows. Bleh.
3. Simple to use. Probably has a place to hid a battery in it, if I would only look. Overall, brilliant piece of an alarm clock. Buy it.

Nice change – great way to wake-up
The Phillips Wake-up Light is a visually pleasing design to look at as an object. Even though there are new features and configurations that are new concepts to learn from the traditional alarm clock, the display feedback and help documentation make this process easy. I was motivated to learn the new features and the diagrams in the user manual made this quick and painless. It took one use for it to 'click' that the radio set for general listening is independant from what is set in the alarm settings. A couple of the icons on the front display took a couple of times of looking in the manual to learn but that was not a problem. I have to mention that I do not enjoy going through manuals but the one they provide was painless.

Great Results
I have to be up before the sun every day of the week for work, and not being a morning person, have had to have more than one discussion with my boss regarding my tardiness. At the time of receiving this light as a gift during Christmas, I had four different alarms of different sounds to make sure I got up, and I still had trouble.
I have been using the light for two weeks now, and am loving it every morning. I wake up just 10 minutes into the sunrise simulation (it's set to a 20 minute simulation), even before the pleasant sound of the chirping bird alarm begins to go off -- which I let go off anyway because it's nice. I wake up feeling awake, and without the urge to hit the snooze and doze just a few minutes longer. I've had a backup alarm just in case, but haven't had to use it.
There only a couple minor things that knocked it down to a 4-star (I'd give it 4 1/2 if I could): the light gets so bright that it actually makes the clock reading nearly impossible to see in the morning (you hardly want to look directly at this thing when it's up to full sun in a dark room). Also, the alarm settings itself is a little strange - to turn "off" the alarm in the morning, I actually have to turn the alarm setting off, whereas on my former alarm I could turn off the alarm, but without having to reset it. Also, when resetting the alarm on this, I have to actively re-confirm the time setting for both hour and minute. Every day. It's a little deal, but an annoyance I wouldn't have expected for such an expensive alarm clock. Finally, the sunset simulation is less a simulation, and more a timed night light. I was expecting to be able to set the sunrise for 10 minutes, and it would slowly dim, but instead it just holds the light steady and blinks out after the set time.
All-in-all, I was hoping for something to help me get up in the morning, and my expectations have been far surpassed. I even feel more energetic throughout the day, and since I am getting up on time for once, my day starts out less stressed. I am very happy with this product.

This product has great features
Sunrise and sunset simulation are excellent. I use the medium level of brightness to wake up to.
Was fairly easy to set up.
We also wanted to be able to fall asleep to natural sounds, but the only sound you can fall asleep to is the radio. At first we were very unhappy about this and were going to return light. Then we realized we could use an app on our iPhone that we already had before we bought light. This gives us MANY different sounds to choose from, and different timer lengths as well. So we fall asleep to sun setting and waves splashing on the beach. This goes a long ways to make up for the minus 35 degree weather outside!! We are really glad we kept the light because it is well made, and the light is the main reason we bought it.
I kept setting our alarm clock (for wake up time of 15 minutes later than what the light was set for) for the first week just to make sure I didn't accidentally turn off alarm on light.
We find the MANY positives far exceed the 2 minor negatives !!!
