Philips and MedShare Partner to Provide Access to Care

MedShare hosts a partnership launch event at the organization’s headquarters in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Georgia – MedShare, a global humanitarian aid organization launched a new partnership with Philips, a global leader in health technology. The organizations will collaborate to deliver lifesaving biomedical equipment and technology to medically underserved communities around the world. This equipment and technology is sorely needed in communities where resources are scarce and an estimated 40% of biomedical equipment is inoperable (source: The Lancet). The partnership will deliver equipment primarily through MedShare’s Maternal & Child Health Program as Philips donates state of the art maternal and neonatal medical equipment.

“Our new partnership with Philips will make an immeasurable impact on the communities we serve,” said Charles Redding, CEO and President of MedShare. “This partnership will enable MedShare to sustainably strengthen healthcare in medically underserved communities for years to come. Each piece of equipment donated by Philips will serve hundreds, if not thousands, of patients, and equip healthcare providers with the tools they need to save lives.”

Philips is leading the way in sustainable health technology and helping drive access to care by repurposing its used medical equipment to bring healthcare to those who need it most – donating clinically viable equipment for another lifecycle in underserved communities. As a leader in solutions for precision medicine, connected care, and image guided therapy, Philips equipment donations will expand MedShare’s medical equipment offerings significantly.

“Increasing access to care is core to Philips mission of improving lives,”said Stefano Folli, Senior Vice President, Customer Services, Philips North America. “Not only are we providing advanced technology to those who don’t have it, this partnership with MedShare allows us to provide application training, service and remote monitoring, ensuring our equipment is part of a sustainable solution for tens of thousands of people.”

MedShare has delivered over $220 million in medical aid to communities in 103 countries. Since its inception, MedShare’s Biomedical Equipment Training & Repair Service has provided critical biomedical equipment training to more than 7,000 engineers, technicians, and end-users. Connecting MedShare’s global network of healthcare partners with Philips’ state of the art biomedical equipment will improve the quality of biomedical service offerings in underserved communities, as well as significantly increase the capacity of health systems in impacted areas.

Philips and MedShare representatives will be available for comment at the partnership launch. Guests will hear from leaders in the global health community and enjoy a networking lunch following a tour of MedShare’s facilities.
