After each measurement the scale will switch off automatically. It will switch on by stepping onto the scale again. If  the scale cannot be activated the batteries might be empty. Replace all four batteries at the same time. Replace low batteries, before they are completely empty, using 1.5V R6 AAA alkaline batteries.
