How to clean/maintain my Philips/Saeco espresso machine

Cleaning the brew group
To keep coffee grounds from clogging your espresso machine, clean and lubricate the brew group on a regular basis.
Weekly cleaning: Rinse the machine's brew group using lukewarm water
Monthly cleaning: Use the Saeco degreasing tablet CA6704 to remove oil from the machine's brew group. Step-by-step instructions can be found in the user manual
Lubricating the brew group
Lubricate the machine's brew group frequently so its mechanical parts continue to move easily.
Frequency of lubricating:
Lubricate every 4 months if you brew 1-5 cups per day
Lubricate every 2 months if you brew 6-10 cups per day
Lubricate once a month if you brew more than 10 cups per day
Cleaning the coffee funnel
Clean the coffee funnel to ensure the coffee easily runs through your Saeco espresso machine.
Weekly cleaning: Remove the machine's brew group first and then, using the handle of a spoon, clean the coffee funnel from the top via the pre-ground coffee compartment or from below
Descaling your machine
As with all electrical appliances that use water, your Saeco espresso machine will start to build up calcium deposits or scale.
Your machine will let you know when it is time to descale. Use Saeco/Philips descaling solution CA6700 or CA6701. Step-by-step instructions can be found in the user manual.
Cleaning the milk carafe
Regularly cleaning the milk carafe, automatic milk frother and classic milk frother ensures hygienic and frothy milk foam.
Milk carafe After every use: After brewing a coffee containing milk, complete a quick clean of the milk system. Daily: Remove the top of the milk carafe and rinse the parts completely with lukewarm water. Weekly: 1. Fill up the milk carafe with water and push the button for frothing milk to clean the milk circuits. 2. Disassemble and clean all parts of the milk carafe in lukewarm water. Monthly: Use Saeco milk circuit cleaner CA6705 to prevent the milk circuits from clogging. Refer to the user manual for step-by-step instructions.
Cleaning the automatic add classic milk frother
Automatic milk frother Daily: Ensure the milk circuits are clean by placing the milk tube into a jug filled with fresh water. Place an empty cup under the dispenser and press the button for frothing milk. When clear water appears, stop dispensing. Weekly: Disassemble the automatic milk frother after removing it from the hot water/steam dispensing spout. Rinse all parts in lukewarm water. Monthly: Use the Saeco milk circuit cleaner CA6705 to prevent milk circuits from clogging up. The user manual contains step-by-step instructions on how to do this.
Classic milk frother Daily: After removing the external part of the classic milk frother rinse it with fresh water.
