Descaling your Philips/Saeco Manual Espresso machine helps keeping your machine in an optimal condition. Below you will find a step-by-step instruction on how to do this.
Note: Descale your machine every 1-2 months or whenever a reduction in water flow is noticed. Only use the Saeco descaling solution (CA6700).
How to descale my Philips/Saeco Manual Espresso machine?

Descaling manual espresso machine
- Place the filter holder onto the machine.
- Remove and empty the water tank.
- Pour half (125ml) of the descaling solution liquid into the water tank and then fill the tank with fresh tap water up to the MAX indication. Place the water tank back into the machine.
- Place a bowl under the steam wand (Pannarello).
- Switch the machine on and wait until the "machine ready" light is on.
- Open the "hot water/steam" knob by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Set the selection knob to the brewing coffee position and fill the bowl up to about 300ml with the descaler solution.
- Set the selection knob to the neutral position to stop dispensing.
- Switch the machine off and empty the bowl.
- Let the descaling solution act for about 15-20 minutes with the machine switched off.
- Repeat steps 4 to 9 until the water tank is empty. Wait 3 minutes while the machine is off between the cycles.
- Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh tap water.
- Place a bowl under the filter holder.
- Switch the machine on.
- Turn the selection knob to brewing coffee position and dispense the water
- Set the selection knob to the neutral position to stop dispensing.
- Empty the bowl and fill the tank again with fresh water.
- Place the bowl under the steam wand (Pannarello).
- Open the "hot water/steam" knob by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Turn the selection knob to brewing coffee position and dispense the complete water tank.
- Close the "hot water/steam" knob by turning it clockwise and set the selection knob to the neutral position.
- Repeat steps 15 to 19 for 4 more times.
