Your Saeco Odea espresso machine's control panel might show several indicator lights. Discover their meaning.
Troubleshooting
A light flashes on the control panel of my Saeco Odea espresso machine.
Descaling light
Flashing slowly:
- The machine needs to be descaled, descale the machine with Saeco descaler.
- If the descaling light keeps flashing after you have proceeded the descaling process, you have not finish the process in the correct way. Restart the descaling process.
Alarm light / Exclamation symbol
Steady on:
- The coffee bean hopper is empty. Refill the coffee bean hopper with coffee beans and restart the brewing cycle.
- The water tank is empty. Fill the water tank with fresh water.
- The drip tray/coffee grounds drawer is full and needs to be emptied. Always empty the coffee grounds drawer while the machine is switched ON, otherwise the coffee cycle counter is not reset.
Flashing slowly (once per second):
- The service door is open or not closed properly. Close the service door properly.
- The brew group is not inserted or not inserted correctly. Take out the brew group, clean and grease it. Place it back again into the machine.
- The coffee grounds drawer is not inserted or not well placed.
- The coffee bean hopper lid is not properly placed. The lid features a magnetic closure and for safety reasons, place the bean hopper in the correct way.
- The steam/hot water knob is not correctly turned to the desired position. Change the setting.
Flashing quickly (multiple times per second):
- The water circuit needs to be vented. Vent the machine according to the user manual, or simply by dispensing some hot water.
Temperature light
Steady on:
- The machine is ready for use.
Flashing slowly (once per second)
- The machine is in stand-by mode. After 30 minutes of inactivity, the machine goes into stand-by mode, the boiler is no longer heated and all the lights turn off with the exception of the temperature light which will blink slowly. To turn the machine on again simply press the brew button. The machine will go through the rinse cycle if the circuit is cold.
Flashing quickly (multiple times per second):
- The machine is too warm, dispense some hot water to cool down the machine.
Coffee grounds drawer light
- The coffee grounds drawer is full and needs to be emptied.
Always empty the coffee grounds drawer while the machine is switched ON, otherwise the coffee cycle counter is not reset.

Flashing alternately
- A fault has occurred in the machine. Turn off the machine, wait for 30 seconds and then turn it on again. Try this 2 or 3 times.
