Please upgrade the firmware of your TV:

    40PFL5505D/F7, 46PFL5505D/F7, 55PFL5505D/F7 - To version PHL-0AA1190.upg or higher.

    40PFL5705D/F7, 46PFL5705D/F7, 55PFL5705D/F7, 40PFL7705D/F7, 46PFL7705D/F7, 55PFL7705D/F7 - To version PHL-0BA5240.upg or higher.

    40PFL7505D/F7, 46PFL7505D/F7, 55PFL7505D/F7 - To version PHL-0CA3230.upg or higher.

Once updated, your TV will pass through Dolby Digital audio received via the Tuner from cable or antenna sources to a connected Home Theater System or AV Receiver on the digital coaxial S/PDIF port.

Note: The TV does not pass through multichannel audio received on HDMI inputs.

To enjoy multi channel surround on your Home Theater System from devices which you connect to your TV using HDMI, please use one of the following connection methods:

    • If you own an AV Receiver or HTiB with HDMI inputs, connect your Set Top Boxes (Cable, Satellite, etc.) DVD players, Blu-ray Players, PCs, etc. directly to your AVR or HTiB using HDMI and then just one HDMI cable from your receiver to the TV. This way your AVR or HTiB will decode and output the audio and pass through the video to the TV.
    • If you own an HTiB or AVR without HDMI inputs, connect your Set Top Boxes (Cable, Satellite, etc.) DVD players, Blu-ray Players, PCs, etc. directly to your AVR or HTiB using S/PDIF (Digital Coaxial or Optical) cables. In this case you will need to connect the HDMI cables for each of your devices separately to the TV for video only.

Please refer to the User Manuals of your external devices for connectivity and setup instructions.
