How do I obtain an optimal 3D experience at home for my Philips TV?

    Published on 2016-12-29

For the best 3D experience possible, you will need the following:

    • a Philips 3D Ready or 3D TV
    • a 3D transmitter (for the 3D Ready models)
    • 3D glasses
    • a 3D Blu-ray player (or another source device with 3D capability, such as a game console or a Set-top box)
    • a high-speed HDMI cable
    • 3D content

Connect the 3D source device to the ‘HDMI 1 ARC’ connection of your TV by means of a high-speed HDMI cable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI).

In order to ensure an optimal communication between the transmitter and the glasses and to minimize the possibility that short term discomfort (headaches or eyestrain) will occure, we advise you to keep a distance of at least 1.8 m. (6 feet) from the TV screen.
The maximum viewing distance depends on whether you are sitting directly in front of the TV or facing the screen at an angle.

    • if you are sitting in front of the TV, the maximum viewing distance is approximately 6 m. (18-20 feet)
    • if you are facing the screen at a 60º angle, the maximum viewing distance is 4 m. (12-14 feet)
    • if you are facing the screen at an angle of 60º-75º, the maximum viewing distance is 3 m. (9-10 feet)

For and even more immersive home cinema experience, we advise you to choose a TV with Ambilight.
