Troubleshooting

What should I do if my Philips TV does not turn on?

Try turning the power on using both the remote and the power button on the side/top of the set. if the set turns on using the power button on the side/top of the set, there is a problem with your remote.

  1. Change the batteries in the remote.
  2. Move closer to the set about 3 feet and make sure the remote is point toward the remote signal sensor on the set.
  3. Bright light such as florescent light, overhead light or sunlight can interfere with the remote signal.

If the set turns on using the remote but not the POWER button on the side/top of the set you may contact our Customer Care Center for information on locating an authorized servicer.

If the LED light on the front of the set blinks but does not turn on when you press the POWER button on the remote or side/top of the set you may contact our Customer Care Center for information on locating an authorized servicer.

If the LED light does not blink when you press the POWER button try unplugging the set from the power outlet for 10 seconds. You should also try plugging a lamp or other electrical appliance into the outlet to make sure there is not a problem with the outlet. Sometimes an electrostatic discharge may cause the set to lock up and disconnecting the power resets the set. If problem persist, you may contact our Customer Care Center for information on locating an authorized servicer.

Note: For some 42” and 50” plasma sets the firmware upgrade provided on the web site may correct this issue.

If using a surge protector, try plugging the set directly into the wall outlet. An electrostatic discharge could have tripped the breaker in the surge protector.
