Frequently Asked Questions

New Philips Sonicare Toothbrush Users

The sound and vibration of your Philips Sonicare may seem unusual if you are used to a manual toothbrush. If this is your first power toothbrush, it can take up to 3 weeks to acclimate to the new sensation as compared to a manual toothbrush.
Below are some tips to help you get started.

Tips:

Manual users are accustomed to applying pressure when brushing. Our sonic vibrations produce up to 31,000 brush strokes per minute, which means you can apply less pressure. The built-in pressure sensor in the toothbrush will make a pulsing sound as a reminder to ease off on the pressure if needed.

The ProtectiveClean 4100 EasyStart function.

Starting something new can take getting used to. That's why our easy-start program gives you the option of a gradual, gentle increase in brushing power the first 14 times you use your new toothbrush.

If you would like to continue using the EasyStart function longer than 14 bushings, you can restart it.

1) Put the handle on the plugged-in charger.
2) While on the charger, press and hold the power on/off button until you hear a single short beep (after 2 seconds).
3) Release the power on/off button.

Please see your user manual for detailed instructions.
