GoGEARWiFi MP3 video player with Android™

Easy to use, access to Google Play, so able to install a lot of free Android applications, great sound. Excellent touch screen response. Fast access while browsing the web. Battery lasts a little time when device is used to watch videos . The radio is through an application...If there is no WIFI access available can't listen the radio. Other thing against it is that is not possible to extend the storage space....It freezes some times! For the rest the device works great!!

Amazing audio, extremely good display and somewhat surprising performance from this little gem. What isn't there I won't miss but I really would like to see some of the included apps be subject to customer's ability to remove them. There is an interaction between one or more of them (Songbird?# that has led to the device rebooting itself #once#. I was listening to an audio stream using TuneIn and suddenly confronted with a video stream overlaying the screen and a song being played on top of the actual audio from the desired stream from a radio station. Not at all sure which caused it but for several minutes it was a bit crazy as the device tried to sort it out and eventually gave up and rebooted itself. It would not respond to my 'ok's' when prompted to stop the offending app#s# as it went on its merry way out of my control. Other than that it has been flawless. Battery life is a concern for me as I need it to accompany me on a hospital stay which was part of the motivation to find something like this. I did well on that and the choice. Despite Phillips promoting Goggle's Android Market you may find apps that will not be offered to you and that is troublesome. For me the ability to send text's to cell phones from the device is an issue #the app Heywire# but at this point the Market says the device can't support it. I disagree with Goggle on that score. I suspect they think I'm on some other device and I'll get that sorted out. Pleased as punch with this surprise. It is terrific, well made and the audio that comes from it is stunning. In fact, it is not apparent it even has a speaker--most of the devices in this category do not--which makes the audio an even bigger surprise! For me the fact it looks like just another cell phone was important too which I thought mike make it less attractive to a thief. The Android buttons are also a nice attribute and far better than on screen or border buttons seen on others. Well done Phillips.

I have had the device for a few weeks now and use it everyday. It does everything an Android tablet or phone can do with a Wifi connection. Very crisp and bright screen. The sound is amazing (the stock headphones are pretty decent) and even the built in speaker provides a good sound and is impressively loud and clear considering the size of the device. My only complaint is the processor. Multitasking on this unit isn't all that great. If you are running more than a few apps prepare for some crashes and lock ups on those apps. The unit doesn't crash, but the apps will. If you use the device to stream or listen to music and run an app or two (what it was intended for), it is awesome!

This is a great mp4 player, but it crashes very often (once a week at least). There is no consistency with what happens before it crashes (other than it's been in sleep mode#. The alarm also stops working every now and then. When it doesn't go off, I check the time on it, then when the minute changes #6:27 to 6:28) the alarm goes off.

I was only looking for an MP3 player but now that I have the GoGEAR I hardly use it for music. I use it for NetFlix, FaceBook and games mostly. That being said it's a bit small to use mostly like a tablet and the battery doesn't last very long. I also had some trouble early on with it freezing up so I had to use the reset button frequently but that seems to have cleared itself up.

I cannot find a way to have the artist information show up accurately on the Philips player. I have tried using Songbird and Windows Media Player but still no luck. It also takes considerable time to load and is frequently unresponsive when attempting multiple tasks.

I've bought it without knowing android system and as I didn't want a smartphone, just something that allowed me using wifi anywhere, I decided to buy this. Also, Philips is an amazing brand for me, I just trust its products. I've been using Gogear Connect for almost 6 months. I knew that there was no camera and that was OK for me, cause even if there was one, quality would be poor. But I didn't know there was no SD card slot. If I had knew that, I would have bought the 16 GB model. My purpose was, afterwall, using wifi, watching videos, youtube, listening to music, apps, skype, good bluetooth, and Gogear Connect allowed me all of that, a little more, with really great quality. There was some apps I could not install cause of its specifications, but I didn't mind. Now, the poor parts: SYSTEM AND SCREEN CRASH CONSTANTLY! At the first time it happened (1 day after buying it) I had to make it work by pressing Reset button. It started working well again. But after 6 months, it keeps happening at least once a day. If I were not such a peaceful, patient person, I would have thrown it against a wall 5 months ago. Why didn't I return it to the store after the problem started? Cause I had 30 days to use the produt and test it, so I decided to know it better before deciding what to do. After that, I really wanted to keep it. I thought there were still more pros than cons. Now, everytime I use Songbirg, screen freezes, song keeps playing, but touchscreen doesn't work. I have to wait for about 2 minutes until it gets back, ou reset system. But when I play any music with another app, it doesn't happen. Clearly, Songbird is the problem. Sometimes, system just crashes, makes some creepy sounds, screen gets black, and the only thing to do is reseting it. If I recommend it to anyone? If you're a patient person like me, and will get used to just press the reset button and restart what you were doing, then I definitely do recommend it. It does the job. Works fine for me. But it you need something really great, buy something with a better processor and with a memory card slot, or you'll regret.

Been using the gogear connect for about 2 weeks now. I did have the common problem of it not turning on. But only once so far. The wifi works great. Processor is fast enough for me. I had a little bit of trouble getting it sync'd with google, but after a few tries, it connected and I was able to download apps. I'm still getting used to using Songbird. But it seems to do the job fine thus far. My biggest complaint is the battery doesn't last very long. Worst case scenario, this was a good test for me to see if I really neede an itouch, ipod, iphone, or whatever....

We picked this up as a Christmas gift for our 9 yr old grandson. Once he opened it, that has been the only thing he has used for the last 5 days!! Forget the laptop, Wii and DS3. He has been pulling down apps and music with no issue. I asked if this was an OK gift and he just smiled and nodded. Seems to be solid and no issues as of yet.
