Radiologists Issue Imaging Guidelines

October 10, 2018

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has released three new medical imaging guidelines and revised nine others.  The evidence-based guidelines assist physicians and other providers in making the most appropriate imaging or treatment decisions.

The new guidelines cover:

  • Lung cancer screening
  • Postmenopausal subacute or chronic pelvic pain
  • Suspected new-onset and known nonacute heart failure

The revised guidelines include:

  • Chronic knee pain
  • Breast pain
  • Suspected appendicitis

ACR said it conducts a two-month focused comment period following the release of new or revised guidelines.
