Imaging Coalition Opposes White House Proposal on Prior Authorization

April 1, 2013

The Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC), which represents physicians, patient groups, medical providers, and health technology firms, including Philips Healthcare, has called on Congress to reject proposals in President Obama’s proposed 2014 budget that would require prior authorization for advanced imaging services provided to Medicare patients.  The group said that the proposal would harm patient access to imaging that has been proven to save lives through earlier detection and treatment.
