Medicare ACOs Report Savings
Medicare Accountable Care Organizations generated total savings of almost $850 million in 2016, according to recent data released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and analyzed by the health publication, Modern Healthcare. Most of the savings, $652 million, came from the Medicare Shared Savings program with its 432 ACOs. Savings from other ACO types, along with the total number of each, include:
- 8 Pioneer ACOs: $68 million
- 18 Next Generation ACOs: $48 million
- 13 End Stage Renal Disease ACOs: $75 million
