Awareness is just the beginning. The real challenge – and opportunity – lies in turning awareness into action. How do we leverage science, technology and collaboration to stay ahead of breast cancer, rather than simply reacting to it?
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers worldwide, affecting millions of women each year.1 Yet, survival rates continue to improve, thanks to one critical factor: early detection.
Early detection isn’t just a catchphrase; it’s a clinical game changer. Identifying cancer at its most treatable stage leads to less invasive treatments, lower mortality rates and better quality of life. Mammography has been the cornerstone of early detection for decades, and its evolution is nothing short of remarkable.
Traditional 2D mammography has saved countless lives, but advancements like digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), or 3D mammography, have taken imaging to the next level. By providing detailed, layered views of breast tissue, DBT makes it easier to detect subtle lesions, especially in dense breast tissue.

When combined with advanced imaging, these insights enable clinicians to design personalized screening pathways – tailored to when to start imaging, how often and which modalities to use.
While no model is perfect, these tools are shifting the mindset from reactive to proactive care. Women who understand their risk can engage more deeply in their health, ask informed questions and make empowered decisions about screening and prevention.
Awareness today means more than knowing breast cancer exists – it means understanding your personal risk and knowing that early detection is within reach.
