Frequently asked questions

AI-driven automated measurements, from AI features such as Auto Measure and AutoStrain, reduce the number of keystrokes and clicks6, potentially alleviating the physical burden on clinical sonographers.

Philips ultrasound AI capabilities span a user’s end-to-end-imaging needs, from image acquisition and selection, to measurement and quantification, to analysis for clinical decision support. Our AI automates elements of this workflow to help reduce variability and increase productivity.

Ultrasound AI Solutions technologies are available on Philips EPIQ CVx and Affiniti CVx* dedicated cardiac ultrasound systems and run on the same highly interoperable platform as Cardiovascular Workspace.   *Not all features available on all systems

Philips perspective is that, to be considered “responsible cardiac ultrasound AI,” the AI algorithms should be trained on high-integrity data derived from a significant number of real-world, clinical images. Philips AI uses hundreds of thousands of images that represent a wide variety of demographics and have been acquired by differently skilled users. In addition, applications should meet the highest standards put forth by the FDA and follow stringent quality control protocols including checks and balances based on healthcare AI codes of conduct.

Philips is committed to the safe and responsible use of data and AI. Our CEO, Roy Jakobs, co-chairs U.S. National Academy of Medicine’s Steering Committee on AI Code of Conduct, to develop a framework to ensure equitable, ethical, safe and responsible use of AI health and healthcare.
