AI infection prediction aiding military readiness

The United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) partnered with Philips to test real-time, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered infection risk prediction scores aimed at maintaining military mission readiness. Rapid Analysis of Threat Exposure (RATE) is a device-agnostic early-warning algorithm that uses vital sign and biomarker information to detect infection risk among asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic individuals. RATE was originally created using clinical data from patients who had developed hospital-acquired infections and was modified to alert for SAR-CoV-2.
