The CEO, head of Radiology and CT technologist at St. Bernhard Hospital in Kamp-Lintfort, Germany discuss the clinical advantages provided by the Philips CT 5300 system. An interest in cardiac imaging and improved workflow led them to choose Philips technology. Watch to hear about their experiences.
St. Bernhard Hospital is a hospital interested in innovations in the field of CT diagnostics, and has an aim to constantly evolve. According to Josef Lübbers, CEO, “In addition to a reduction in radiation exposure, it was important for us to enter the field of cardiac imaging with a new CT scanner.”
The CT 5300 offers head-to-toe CT imaging and combines this with high-end imaging such as coronary angiography to allow for an extremely broad spectrum of applications. “It is quite amazing what we can achieve with the combination of 64 detector channels and AI-based reconstruction,” says Dr. Hilmar Kühl, PD, Head of Radiology. “With Precise Image we now get much better images at reduced doses. And we're definitely seeing an improvement in image quality with Precise Cardiac, because for the first time we can now visualize cardiac anatomy nearly artifact-free, which is very valuable.”

Arnaud Launois, CT Technologist finds that CT 5300’s AI-enabled CT Smart Workflow features make daily work on the scanner much easier. “Precise Position automatically positions the patient. This improves our consistency from user to user and definitely reduces unnecessary radiation exposure. CT Smart Workflow definitely simplifies our work.”
“And now with Precise Image we have a dose reduction of 80%,” Launois says, “The images are really excellent. It’s like night and day.”
