Thanks to collaboration between Philips, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The American Legion, the ATLAS telehealth site in Emporia, KS allows Veterans to access primary, mental health or pharmacy care from the VA health system within their community.
Every time I think the VA’s done something that’s extraordinary, they come along and do something like this.
Telehealth is vital to increasing access and removing geographic and digital barriers to care. Philips teamed up with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The American Legion through Project ATLAS to donate telehealth solutions which allow Veterans to conduct virtual appointments with their VA care teams.
American Legion Post 5 in Emporia, Kansas, recently opened an ATLAS telehealth site to better meet the healthcare needs of Veterans in eastern Kansas. Whether Veterans are seeking consultation from their primary care, mental health specialist or pharmacy provider in the VA health system, they are now able to do so within the community via the new ATLAS site.
“I really appreciate the cooperation that’s been shown between Philips, and the VA and the American Legion to get this established here in Emporia, and I hope that we can be a flagship and an example of what this can do for our Veterans throughout the country,” said Clay Childs, Commander, American Legion Post 5.
