Through its work with The Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes initiative, Philips met the Kellys, a family from Mansfield, Massachusetts, who shared their experience as military caregivers in hopes of letting others know how to navigate the healthcare system and find the care and support needed to overcome.
Philips has been a long-time partner of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, working together to create solutions and raise awareness for military caregivers. During a Hidden Heroes event recognizing caregivers from throughout New England, one family’s story inspired all.
Meet the Kellys. A family from Mansfield, Massachusetts, who battled cancer when one of their sons, a Marine, returned home from deployment. Their story is all too familiar to military families, and they shared their experience in hopes of letting others know how to navigate the healthcare system and find the care and support needed to overcome.
I honestly think if Eric had to try to go through this himself, if he didn’t have us, he might not have come out the other side of it. I would think about people who didn’t have that, what do they do?
