Telehealth is vital to increasing access and removing geographic and digital barriers to care. Philips teamed up with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The American Legion through Project ATLAS to donate telehealth solutions which allow Veterans to conduct virtual appointments with their VA care teams.
Following exploration and co-creation sessions with VA and Veterans, an ATLAS telehealth pod opened at VFW Post 2847 in Los Banos, California. Many in the community, including the mayor, representatives from the area Veterans Service Organization and VA clinicians who work in the local Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN), celebrated the opening.
I’m so so happy that Los Banos is the first place in California to have this. Such a benefit to our Veterans. They deserve to be taken care of.
The ATLAS pod in Los Banos has all the qualities of a medical office building, now in a community setting – in this case a VFW location. Any Veteran in the community can come and recevie services and care they need. ATLAS will be especially helpful for Veterans who may be seeking mental health support, particularly for those who may feel awkward going into a medical facility for care.
Some of the younger guys didn’t have any of this stuff available to them, and they tried to self medicate, and ruined their lives, and we don’t want to see that happen to any more Vets if we can help it.
