Philips Professional Display Solutions launches new Bedside TV with Chromecast Built-In

Amsterdam, 2019: Philips Professional Display Solutions has evolved its successful Professional Bedside TV with a range of new features with big benefits for healthcare providers and patients alike.

The new improved HeartLine has been designed for healthcare facilities and improved patient comfort, with a 19” screen, Chromecast built-in and access to the Google Play Store. The TV can be installed in close proximity to patients and is designed specifically for a sensitive healthcare environment – easy to clean and limiting the growth of the most common microorganisms.

“The dedication and heritage of Philips to the healthcare industry has come full circle with this evolution of our Bedside TV system, combining best-in-class picture and sound quality with the unique requirements of the healthcare industry,” says Jeroen Verhaeghe, Product Manager at Philips Professional Display Solutions. “This game-changing innovation is leading the way in bringing recreational class TV to hospital wards, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centres.”

    Chromecast built-in

HeartLine is the first-ever dedicated TV designed specifically for the healthcare industry. The Chromecast built-in feature enables hassle-free, wireless casting of movies, presentations and more from smart devices such as mobiles, laptops, and tablets to the Android-powered Philips Professional TV. Chromecast built-in is cost-effective, requires no extra hardware, and is secure for professional use. Users simply tap the Chromecast icon on their iOS or Android mobile device, tablet or laptop to start streaming content from thousands of cast-enabled apps with their smart device becoming the remote.

    Meeting requirements from healthcare

Hygiene and cleaning routines are vital for any healthcare environment. The Philips HeartLine uses JIS Z2801 compliant antimicrobial additive in its housing. This protective shield impedes the growth of the most common microorganisms, such as Staphylococcus aureus (Gastroenteritis), Escherichia coli (E Coli) and Klebsiella (Pneumonia), making it ideal for installation close to patients.

The HeartLine is equipped with a toughened flat safety glass front, making it easy to clean. The glass is hydrophobic and repels fingerprints. It has no raised buttons, which means no crevices for germs to get into. The built-in touch-sensitive controls can be conveniently disabled for cleaning via a button on the TV’s rear.

Galvanic isolation ensures the safest possible connection between the patient’s headphones and this Healthcare TV from Professional Display Solutions. No current can pass from the headphone circuit into the surrounding electrical environment, ensuring the protection of both patient and sensitive medical instruments.

Superior usability for increased patient comfort

HeartLine ensures ease of operation, as it features integrated touch controls that illuminate when patients raise a finger to them. An integrated reading light conveniently placed under the bottom bezel of the TV enables patients to read, both day and night. A button on the front touch-control panel operates the light and controls the intensity.

The Android ecosystem will enable all apps to change the in-app language to the guest’s chosen menu language to ensure optimum comfort. Furthermore, people’s favorite and personalized TV-channels, YouTube-channels and other streaming services will be available under their personal accounts, so everything will be familiar, convenient and enjoyable to use.

Philips Professional Display Solutions’ content management platform – CMND & Control

HeartLine is enabled with access to the full CMND content management system from Philips Professional Display Solutions. This offers maximum flexibility for the installer, as well as comfort for the patient. Installation, configuration, maintenance, as well as dashboard creation, can all be completed remotely, offering savings in both time and cost for the installer as well.

Via CMND & Control, a customized dashboard is available for the patient. This means they can enjoy personalized TV, in their own language and on their preferred channels. In addition, the healthcare provider can display important and relevant patient information.

    Environment and availability

The HeartLine TV has a 12 V DC power input and is awarded the IEC 60601-1 medical certificate. It has fully-updateable Android 7 OS, which ensures the software can be kept secure and up-to-date.

All Philips TVs are designed to minimise power consumption, reducing environmental impact while also offering lower operating costs.

The HeartLine 19HFL5014W/12 will be available in November 2019.
