15 New Advance Payment ACOs Announced

July 26, 2012

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced that 15 Accountable Care Organizations which began participating in its Shared Savings Program on July 1, 2012, will also be participating in the CMS Advance Payments Model ACO program. Read more about these 15 ACOs here.

The Advance Payment ACO Model is designed to support physician-based and rural ACOs in the Medicare Shared Savings Program who have less access to capital. Through the Advance Payment ACO Model, selected participants will receive upfront and monthly payments, which they can use to make important investments in their care coordination infrastructure.

Together with the 5 Advance Payment ACOs announced in April, the CMS announcement brings the total number of Advance Payment ACOs to 20.
