How to choose a travel CPAP
Travel CPAP machines aren’t all created equal

New innovations in design and technology have made it possible to experience the same performance with a small, lightweight PAP device as a home-based unit. But remember: Not all travel machines are the same.

Tips! Here’s what to look for when deciding on a travel PAP:

      No 1

      A quiet operation

Check the sound level, since some machines are noisier than others.

      No 2
      Similar settings
Look for comfort features similar to your home device and a machine that allows you to use the same mask as you use at home.
      No 3
      Portability
Opt for a lightweight machine with an integrated power supply and smaller tubes for easier packing and transporting.
      No 4
      User-friendly features
Consider touch screen activation and a built-in USB charging port for your cell phone or other devices.

Ditch the hose nose and sleep in any position you want

      No 1

Talk to your travel carrier in advance

Call your carrier to find out what you’re allowed to bring. If required, your doctor can provide a letter of medical necessity for your equipment.

      No 2

      Always carry your prescription

Ask your doctor for a copy of your prescriptions for your PAP machine, mask, filters, tubing and humidifier – and keep them handy.

      No 3

Determine the power supply type at your destination

      Frequently asked questions

      Therapy Related

What modes and pressure ranges are available in the DreamStation Go platform?

DreamStation Go comes in two models, a CPAP (fixed pressure) and Auto CPAP (auto-titrating) mode. Both DreamStation Go models are capable of delivering pressures of 4-20 cm.

Is DreamStation Go compatible with other manufacturer’s CPAP masks?

Yes. DreamStation Go is compatible with other manufacturer’s CPAP masks.

To ensure that you receive safe, effective therapy prescribed for you, use only Philips Respironics accessories.

      Travel

Does DreamStation Go have a battery?

Yes. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery is available for purchase. Depending on your therapy pressure, you will likely get 1 to 2 nights of use on a charge. DreamStation Go set at 10cm of pressure displayed average run time of 13 hours* when running off the Dreamstation Go overnight battery. A fully depleted battery has a recharge time under 5 hours.

*PAP run-time test conditions: CPAP mode, pressure 10 cm H2O, 12mm tubing, 37LPM of leak, 73.4 F room at an elevation of 1650 ft.

Can I charge the battery from a DC power source like a car battery?

Yes. For the DreamStation Go to operate off an external battery, a DC to AC inverter is necessary. It is recommended that the DC/AC power inverter is 150W or greater with an AC voltage output of 100-240 volts.

Can the battery pack be used when the unit is plugged in?

Yes. To use the battery packs as an UPS (uninterruptible power supply), keep the battery pack plugged into the power source and connect to an AC outlet. This will allow you to use the battery pack continuously without losing charge.

What do I need to power my DreamStation Go PAP device while traveling internationally?

If you are traveling to a country with different voltage than the one you are currently using, a different power cord or an international plug adapter may be required to make your power cord compatible with the power outlets of the country to which you are traveling.

Can I use my DreamStation Go PAP device on an airplane?

If you want to use your DreamStation Go on the airplane, advanced notification is required by the airlines. The airplane in-seat electrical power is available on a limited number of aircrafts so you will need to check with your airline and they will let you know of any requirements or restrictions that apply. The airline will let you know what type of power outlet is available in flight and you will need to purchase the needed adapters if required. A more simple option is to purchase the optional battery pack for use inflight.

How long is the DreamStation Go warranty period?

There is a 2 year warranty on the machine against manufacturers’ defects.

Can I use the DreamStation Go every night?

Absolutely. The DreamStation Go was designed with a useful life of over 5 years of nightly use.

I see that the DreamStation Go comes with a small diameter tubing. Is that the only option that I have?

No. In addition to our 12mm micro-flexible tubing, the DreamStation Go can support 15mm and 22mm tubing options. If you decide to change the tubing type on your DreamStation Go, you must change the tubing type on the device in the “My Comfort” section of the user interface.

      Therapy Pressure

What if I need to change the therapy pressure on my DreamStation Go?

Your clinician or medical device supplier can set therapy pressure for you if your needs change after receiving your device.

Does the DreamStation Go automatically adjust for changes in altitude?

Yes. DreamStation Go will automatically compensate therapeutic pressure to altitudes of up to 7,500 ft.

      DreamStation Go Heated Humidifier

Note: Please refer to the Instructions for Use for more detailed information regarding the operation of your device.

I purchased a DreamStation Go before the heated humidifier released. What do I have to do to make sure the heated humidifier works with my DreamStation Go?

Heated humidifiers purchased separately from a DreamStation Go will ship with a microSD card containing a version of DreamStation Go software that supports the heated humidifier.  You can upgrade the software on the DS Go device using this supplied microSD card. Read and follow the supplied upgrade instructions before connecting the heated humidifier to the DreamStation Go.

Can I use waterless humidification system like an HME with DreamStation Go?

There are a number of heat moisture exchangers (HME) available on the market to support waterless humidification. While there is nothing preventing you from using an HME with DreamStation Go system, we cannot vouch for their effectiveness. We recommend using the optional Philips DreamStation Go heated humidifier if humidification is your preference.

I see an error message whenever I connect the DreamStation Go heated humidifier to my DreamStation Go that reads “Accessory Unsupported”.

Your DreamStation Go software needs to be updated to support the heated humidifier. Your heated humidifier should have shipped with a microSD card   that contains this software, along with upgrade instructions. Read and follow   the supplied upgrade instructions before connecting the heated humidifier to   the DreamStation Go.

I received a pop-up message on the device that reads "Stop therapy, remove and then reinsert water tank” What should I do?

This message will appear if the humidifier water tank is incorrectly seated on the humidifier heater plate. To remedy:

      1. Stop therapy
      2. Remove and then reinsert the water tank
      3. Visually inspect to make sure that the water tank is not seated on an angle.

Once complete, you may resume therapy. If inserted correctly, the pop-up should not appear again.

Can I use the DreamStation Go Overnight Battery AND the DreamStation Go heated humidifier at the same time?

Given the power demands of a CPAP heated humidifier, the DreamStation Go CANNOT support simultaneous usage of both the heated humidifier and   overnight battery.

How do I adjust the humidification level?

Humidification level (0-5) can be changed only while the device is on and delivering therapy.

To change humidification level, tap the humidifier icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Tap the right arrow to increase humidification output, tap the left arrow to reduce the humidification output. Setting the humidifier level to 0 will turn the humidifier off. The maximum setting on the humidifier is 5.

How do I adjust the humidifier settings?

Humidification settings (i.e. Mode and Target Time) can be adjusted while therapy is turned off. To change these settings, navigate to the My Comfort menu. From here you can view and adjust the humidifier settings.

What is the difference between Adaptive and Fixed humidification modes?

Adaptive humidification mode automatically adjusts the humidifier heater plate temperature to maintain a constant level of relative humidity to your mask.

Fixed humidification mode applies constant heat to the humidifier heater plate regardless of the conditions in your room.

      What is Target Time?

This feature allows users to specify the amount of time they intend to use the device each night. If Target Time is enabled, the device will adjust humidification output so that water is consumed evenly over the specified time period. Users can select Off, Auto, or 4 - 10 hours in 0.5 hour increments. This setting is only available when the humidifier is set to Adaptive humidification mode.

When set to Auto, the device automatically sets the target time based on a users’ past device usage hours.

How long is the DreamStation Go heated humidifier warranty period?

There is a 2 year warranty on the humidifier against manufacturers’ defects.

How much water does the heated humidifier hold?

The heated humidifier tank holds 240ml of water.

What types of water can I use with the heated humidifier?

Potable water, such as tap, bottled, or distilled. Never use water from a biologically unsafe source such as a lake, river, stream, or well.

Is the DreamStation Go humidifier water-based or a heat moisture   exchanger (HME)?

The DreamStation Go features an optional water-based heated humidifier. The heated humidifier heats water in a tank over the course of the night which adds moisture to the delivered therapy air.

What are the cleaning recommendations for the water tank?

Clean the water tank daily to prevent mold and bacteria. Tank base can be   cleaned by placing it in the top shelf of a dishwasher, or hand-cleaning with   a mild dishwashing soap.

Hand wash the tank lid only with a mild dishwashing soap.

Refer to the user manual for the baffle and manifold cleaning instructions.

What diameter tubing can I use with the DreamStation Go Heated Humidifier?

The DreamStation Go Heated Humidifier supports DreamStation 12mm micro-flexible, 15mm and 22mm tubing.
