Partnering to equip the
smart hospital of the future
Mackenzie Health and Philips have partnered to transform and improve healthcare for over half a million residents across Southwest York Region of Ontario, Canada. The multi-year agreement is based on a Managed Equipment Services (MES) model. It aims to advance Mackenzie Health’s medical technology procurement and maintenance programs for the existing Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, planned for completion in 2019. The agreement offers Mackenzie Health a sophisticated operational framework to better manage their complex technology management needs. At the same time, Philips will serve as a core innovation partner that will supply future-forward solutions for Mackenzie Health’s smart hospital and extended community of care. This is the largest MES agreement in Canada to date and will enable Mackenzie Health to “realize their mission to relentlessly improve care to create healthier outcomes.”
Mackenzie Health includes Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, as well as a comprehensive network of community-based services in Richmond Hill, Vaughan and the surrounding communities.
As Mackenzie Health’s prime medical technology partner, Philips will supply (or procure) and manage a broad range of equipment that will be used across all major departments at the Richmond Hill and future Vaughan Hospitals. We’ll support the hospitals’ equipment needs throughout the entire contract lifetime, including ownership, provision, purchase, installation, user training, asset management, maintenance and ongoing replacement.
Philips practice management solutions for radiology combine imaging systems, informatics and analytics and professional services to help imaging departments improve care and reduce costs. We provide the critical insights needed to transform care practices to be more efficient and effective, shaping positive clinical, financial, and operational effects across the entire healthcare network.
Mackenzie Health will benefit from ongoing access to the latest Philips healthcare technology innovations as well as Philips expertise in patient-centric design.
Philips will serve as an advisor during the design and construction phase of Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital as it relates to equipment and services. This includes guidance on workflow design and planning for equipment staging, installation and commissioning.
Mackenzie Health has already begun its transformation into a two-hospital regional provider of best-in-class care. Opened in 1963, the existing Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital currently has 350 acute, complex and rehabilitation beds and serves more than 500,000 residents in Southwest York Region. The new, approximately 350-bed ‘smart’ hospital in Vaughan will be the first new hospital to be built in the region in more than 50 years.
The new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital has the potential to transform the lives of residents in need of quality care. We chose Philips not only for their products, but for their expertise and solutions.”
