What you need to know about Philips uGrow app’s phase out process
-
As you may have been aware, starting mid-December, Philips’ uGrow baby development tracker app will be phased out from the Apple App Store and Android’s Google Play Store. Below you will find important information that would be useful for you to know as our current users.
-
Can I continue using the uGrow app after March 2019?
-
As a current user, you can remain using the app until March 2019. After March 2019, you can’t keep using uGrow. The app will become unavailable, and no data can be accessed or tracked anymore.
If you are looking for an alternative app for tracking, we recommend using Baby+.
-
Can I access my data after the phase out?
-
Until March 19, you are able to download your baby’s development data (last 1 month of data only) directly from the uGrow app and export it into a PDF. After the specified date, Philips will automatically remove all your personal data.
For more information regarding your privacy and data, check out the Philips’s privacy policy (https://www.usa.philips.com/a-w/mobile-privacy-notice/ugrow.html) or you may contact our Data Protection Officer via our contact form.
-
After the phase out, Can I still use my Philips Avent smart ear thermometer?
-
You can remain using the Smart ear thermometer as a regular ear thermometer. However as of March 2019, you will not be able to view or sync data with the uGrow app, or any other app.
-
How can I reach an online doctor using AMwell?
-
Until March 2019, online doctor visit will still be available via uGrow app. After that, this feature will not be available anymore.
-
Is my phone/tablet compatible with the Avent uGrow App?
-
The Philips Avent uGrow App is compatible with Apple iPhones (version 5 and newer) running iOS version 8.1 and higher; and Android phones running Android 4.4 and higher.
-
I see two uGrow apps, which one should I download?
-
The App Store or Google Play Store might show two different uGrow Apps by Philips Avent. You'll see an app for the uGrow smart baby monitor and another for the uGrow baby development tracker. The second one is the one you need. If you'd like to also use the uGrow smart baby monitor, then you'll need to download both apps.
-
I don’t have any connected devices. Is uGrow still useful for me?
-
Definitely! uGrow was designed to help you through your parenting journey, with or without a connected device. Some of the features you might like to make use of include tracking feeding times and volumes, monitoring your baby’s sleep patterns or capturing special moments like your baby’s first tooth.
-
For which ages is uGrow most relevant?
-
We made uGrow to help all babies grow into healthy kids. The app currently supports moms that are pregnant, and babies between 0-6 months (although you can easily keep using the app after this stage). In the future we’ll be catering for older babies too.
-
Is uGrow helpful for me as a second time mom?
-
Absolutely. You’ll no doubt feel more confident the second time around, but you’ll also notice that every baby has their own unique personality, rhythm and patterns. Whether you’re a first-time mom or an old hand, uGrow is designed to help you easily tune into your baby’s needs and capture the moments that matter.
-
How do I share uGrow with my partner? Can I use uGrow on more than one phone?
-
Good news. It’s possible to use the same account on maximum 3 phones simultaneously. This makes it easy for both you and your partner to follow your baby’s development by sharing data. Data is synced between the two phones when you’re connected to the internet. When you’re not connected to the internet, be aware that there may be a delay in updating data because it’s not possible to sync. At the moment it’s not possible to share data with another account. You can be logged in to your uGrow account on maximum 3 devices simultaneously.
-
I’m concerned about sharing my baby’s data. Is it stored safely?
-
We get it. When it comes to your little one’s privacy and safety it feels like you can’t be cautious enough. We also take your and your baby’s privacy seriously. That’s why we use a variety of security technologies and best practice methods to protect your data from loss, misuse or unauthorized access. For example, we use access controls and make use of firewalls and secure servers. We also encrypt certain types of data such as financial information and other sensitive data.
-
A special note for parents
-
While uGrow isn’t targeted at children under the age of 16, we comply with the law when it requires parent or guardian permission before collecting, using or disclosing the personal data of a child.
If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with his or her personal data and is younger than 16, please contact us at privacy@philips.com. We’ll delete this data from our files.
