The global growth of image-guided therapy procedures continues to be driven by the significant benefits they offer for healthcare systems and patients, including reduced patient trauma, shorter recovery times and hospital stays, and lower health care costs. Chris Landon, Senior Vice President and General Manager Image Guided Therapy Devices at Philips, recently caught up with the DeviceTalks podcast and its host Tom Salemi to highlight the company’s strategy to treat patients better by innovating image-guided therapy procedures, bringing together the most sophisticated imaging systems, smart therapeutic and diagnostic devices, disease-specific software, and services in integrated solutions.
The advantage that we bring to the table is that we’re the only company that has both the devices and imaging capabilities, which allows us to both optimize imaging for devices that are already on the market and also gives us a view on where the puck is going: what are the imaging and information system technologies that physicians will use to guide surgery in the future, and how do we begin to optimize medical devices to take advantage of that?
