Is Philips PulseRelief suitable for me / my patient?
PulseRelief is designed to be used for temporary relief of pain associated with sore and aching muscles in the shoulder, waist, back, neck, upper extremities (arm), and lower extremities (leg) due to strain from exercise or normal household work activities. It should be applied to normal, healthy, dry and clean skin of adult patients. And PulseRelief is to be used in order to condition muscles.
Implanted electronic medical devices, such as pacemakers. This may cause electric shock, burns, or death;
Electronic life support equipment, such as respirators;
Electronic medical devices worn on the body, such as electrocardiographs.
If you use this device together with other electronic medical devices, these devices may not work correctly.
For children (as the device has not been designed for children);
For cancer pain (as the electrical stimulation might affect the tumor negatively);
For headaches (as TENS is not effective for this type of pain and as the effects of electrical stimulation on the brain are unknown);
EMS must not be used over painful areas or injured muscles (as this may have adverse effects on the healing process).
If you have a heart disease;
If you have epilepsy;
If you recently had surgery;
If you are likely to have internal bleeding, e.g. after injuries or fractures;
If you are pregnant;
If you are in the care of a physician / physiotherapist for your pain.
