Can I watch something and record something else on my Philips DVDR?

    Published on 2017-02-28

Once you have your DVDR connected you can either watch a program recorded on the HDD or a DVD while recording from TV signal. To do this:

    1. Press the Tuner button on the remote.
    2. Set your channel so you can see the program you wish to record.
    3. Press the Record button on the remote.
    4. Press the HDD or DVD button on the remote to activate that device and watch as you normally would.

Note: If you are recording “live” TV you will need to go back and manually stop recording or it will continue to record up to the maximum amount of time or disc space.

In order to watch 1 television program and record another you will need 2 signals. This can be done by using a signal splitter.

Connect the splitter to the antenna cable coming from the wall.

    For Cable:

    1. Using a coaxial cable connect one of the outs to the DVDR and follow connection guides for connecting DVDR to TV. Autoprogram the channels. You will only be able to record these available channels.

    2. Using another coaxial cable connect the other out of the splitter to your cable box and connect the cable box direct to your TV using available inputs.

    3. To record set your TV to the input for the DVDR and follow normal recording instructions. Once you have set the recording, change your TV to the input of your cable box and view normally using the cable box to change channels.

    For Satellite:

    1. Check with the satellite company for compatibility of equipment and subsriptions. You will need 2 satellite receivers.

    2. Using a coaxial cable connect one of the outs from the spiller to your satellite box. Then follow connection guides for connecting Satellite to DVDR to TV. You will need to set the DVDR to the correct output channel and use the satellite box to change channels.

    3. Using another coaxial cable connect the other out of the splitter to another satellite box and connect the that box direct to your TV using available inputs.

    4. To record set your TV to the input for the DVDR and follow normal recording instructions, using the satellite box to select channel. Once you have set the recording, change your TV to the input of your second box and view normally using the that box to change channels.
