Philips AventAnti-colic bottle gift set

I have been very pleased with this set of products!! The Philips Avent Gift Set is a great way for new parents to try this line of products to see if they are right for their baby! Trying to pick a bottle and pacifier type is so overwhelming and I was unsure of which my baby would prefer so I would have loved to have received this as a gift at my baby shower. It turns out that my baby is not picky and will accept these bottles as well as other brands, but I like these best due to the abilty to use the Anti-colic valve. My baby seemed to experience trouble with gas for the first few months and I think that using these bottles decreased the gas significantly! I also liked that this feature did not make the bottle more difficult to clean as is the gas with some other brands that boast an anti-colic feature. Ease of cleaning is essential as I have little time to clean bottles at the end of the day as a working mom. Another reason I like this gift set is because it can grow with you baby - it includes a sippy cup that they call a transition cup. You can use this with a bottle nipple or the provided soft spout depending on what your baby needs! Other included items include two orthodontic pacifiers, a formula dispenser and a bottle brush. I didn't use the formula dispenser as my baby is breast fed, but I love, love, love the bottle brush and pacifiers! These seem like strange items to have such a strong reaction to, but the pacifiers come with covers that make them convenient to thrown in your diaper bag or purse without a bulky case - genius! The bottle brush was is also a favorite item due to the bristles. Other bottle brushes I have tried tend to get worn out quickly and the bristles seem to fray. The brush included in this set has held up well despite frequent use. Overall, I think the Philips Avent gift set is a great product that many parents, especially first time parents, would enjoy receiving. This will now be my go-to gift when attending baby showers! This product is a great starter set for new parents. It is nice to give as a shower gift since it includes everything a new parent needs for bottle feeding, all of the parts are compatible and the bottles can even transition into big kid cups for the baby as they get older. I used this set with my second baby and I thought the air vent technology was really great. With my first baby, I used another brand that had a venting system for the bottle, but they were impossible to clean and required two different sized brushes! When you have to wash multiple bottles every night and are exhausted from caring for a newborn, this is the sort of thing that really makes your life easier or harder. The venting did in fact prevent air from being swallowed, which helped with less burping/spit up. The best part was that it was super easy to clean especially compared to some other similar vented bottles I have used. My baby only takes breastmilk so I didn't use the formula dispenser for formula, I did however use it as a snack container for my older child, which worked really well. We received this gift set to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel approximately 2-3 months ago. Our daughter is now 5.5 months old; she has reflux and spits up quite a bit, so we use Enfamil A.R. formula. Included in this set were small (4 oz) and large (9 oz) bottles (including a little handle), pacifiers, a bottle brush, sippy cup, and formula dispenser. We have not yet used the sippy cup, and we primarily use the dishwasher for cleaning bottles so the brush hasn't got much use either (though it appears to be a good quality and fits easily in the bottles). The bottles are not as simple to assemble and clean as other Philips Avent ones we have (that only have 3 parts), but they are still relatively easy to assemble and clean (these bottles have 4 parts). They also have a wide opening that makes it very easy to pour in the formula. They are similar in reducing symptoms of colic/gas as other bottles designed to do so. Our daughter is able to wrap her hands around the bottle, and the included handles provides another way for her to attempt to hold her own bottle. However, we've found that the shape of the handles are more difficult for her to grip than if they were more rounded (like a finger). We think she'll continue to get better at holding these as she grows. Our favorite item in this set is the formula dispenser! Because our daughter was adopted, we are not breastfeeding at all and relying entirely on formula. We use the formula dispenser all the time when we go out. It allows us to perfectly portion the formula while storing it separately from the water-filled bottles. Then it's just a quick 30 sec process to make a bottle on-the-go. Way better than trying to pour formula from plastic baggies into the bottles.

I received this gift set from the weeSpring Parent Panel, and I am so glad I did! This set provides so many key items that an expecting parent who will be using bottles to feed will utilize right away, making shopping for feeding an easy one-stop shop. Our son has issues with spit-up, due to the fact that he is a very aggressive eater and tends to take in a lot of air. After using the Avent anti-colic bottles for a couple of weeks we noticed a decrease in the amount/frequency of his spit-up after eating. It was such a great feeling! The nipples were easy for him to latch on to, and the way they are designed it was easy to see when they were full of formula (not air) to guarantee he was being fed properly. It took a little while to get used to lining up the insert for the bottle to make sure the air was exiting the nipple properly, but after awhile it became second nature. One downfall is the bottle is a little wide, so it can sometimes be difficult to hold/manage for someone with smaller hands like myself, but I found that a minor inconvenience for the trade-off of less spit-up! Washing the bottles wasn't much different than washing any other bottle, other than sometimes it was difficult to pop out the insert from the neck of the bottle (again a minor inconvenience). But overall OZ on the bottle are easy to read, and the flow size is easily identifiable on each nipple for ease of use. The pacifiers were also a great find, other than being clear so they were sometimes difficult to find when they were dropped. We were looking for something to transition our son from the 0-3 pacifier to one for older infants, and he took it right away with no fuss. We went and purchased another set because we were so happy with the ones included in this pack! We are an active family, and the formula dispenser works great when we are on the go. The container nicely stores powdered formula, and adding water through the spout, shaking and serving creates a nice, smooth, ready to drink mixture for our son. It even holds up without leaking between the serving slots so we can feed multiple times and not have to worry about a second/third feeding getting mixed with water before we want it. The only disappointing piece was the bottle brush. We thought it was a bit rigid and hard to clean under the neck of the bottle, so we continued to utilize a different brush. We also did not like the end for cleaning nipples, I did not feel like it did a thorough job. Overall, I would highly recommend this as a great shower gift for an expecting mom, and a definite add to any registry. It was great for our son, and hopefully would help other babies with spit-up issues!
