docking entertainment system

I am a fussy music obsessive who used to do some of my obsessing over quality of speakers. Because I moved into a small condo, the big speakers were no longer appropriate. I find that for such a small unit the sound quality is really top-notch. I don't like Apple products for developing an mp3 collection so I don't use the docking feature so can't comment on that aspect of this. I listen to local radio stations and I play mp3s via my phone as player connected to the unit (I also have a no-noise bluetooth adapter plugged into it for high quality mp3s). Thus, whether you are playing CDs, listening to radio or playing mp3s, I can vouch for very high quality sound. It is also strong enough to easily fill up a medium sized room. Another great feature is being able to plug in a memory drive. For example, I have 6000 albums of music in certain categories: jazz-rock, prog-rock, post-punk, classical, heavy metal, film soundtracks, and post-rock. I list these to illustrate the diversity of music I listen to. There is no internal software to delicately change frequencies (e.g., middle range, bass, or treble) - a weakness. Instead, one must rely on preset equalizer controls called things like Classical, Pop or Rock. Another weakness of the model is that the FM antenna socket is not very common. I looked at half a dozen antennas at a reputable electronic store (huge chain) and can you believe not one has the FM antenna plug for this player. The player does have its own FM antenna which hopefully works in most cases, but it is just a small wire. If you want a fancier one good luck figuring out the right plug - they don't say in manual and their very own customer chat assistance doesn't know either. But the machine is very cool to look at and overall produces as excellent a sound as you can get from something this small.

I purchased for my son to use for a multipurpose sound system for CD, radio, Ipod, AND for the input capability for his turntable. I have a Phillips portable CD player that my husband gave me years ago and the sound was (and still is) awesome so I thought I would try Phillips again. I can't say enough about the quality of the sound for this small muliti-functional unit. With the MP3 input connector and the input adapters from my son's turntable he is able to connect through the MP3 input for listening to his vinyl records. I won't replace my Bose- but I will definitely consider Phillips for future purchases.

I bought it for my ipod. The sound system is awesome. It is multifunctional, cd, usb, ipod, and fm. I also use it as an alarm. Anyway, it is a good product.

THIS WAS PURCHASED AS A GIFT FOR THE WIFE TO TAKE TO THE OFFICE. SHE RAVES ABOUT IT, AND SAYS IT SOUNDS AS GOOD AS OUR BOSE AS HOME. THE DOCK MAKES IT SO EASY TO PLAY MUSIC WITHOUT HAVING TO PLUG IN AUX LINES AND GIVES BETTER QUALITY AND CONTROL.

Bought 3 of them, 2 after buying the first one.I believe that says it all.

I would recommend this product to any one. A++ It has great sound and easy to use and it looks like a high end product.

This docking station is modern looking and does what it should without a lot of fancy lights and switches. Compatable with MP3 players, and that's difficult to find these days.

Bought this so we could have Pandora radio at home. Works great with my old iPod -- but that iPod is too old to support Pandora. Got an iPhone 4 with Pandora, but the Philips docking unit won't dock an iPhone 4. Don't know if that can be made to work.

This product puts out great sound & is very easy to use. The only thing is that my MP3 has to be moved exactly right for it to work on the docing part. It is easy to use when put on correctly. Would buy another one because of the sound & look of product.
