Philips AventDECT Audio Baby Monitor

I’m a mom of 6 kids and one more on the way! My oldest child is 17 so I have had a number of baby monitors over the years! This monitor is the best monitor I have ever had over all these years. I really thought the Phillips Avent Dect audio baby monitor was great and had some really smart features! Right now I am using it for my 3 year old and 1 year old. They share a room. There are so many things I loved about this monitor. The battery life was off the charts! I’ve never had a baby monitor last this long without being on the charger! I also really liked the nightlight and lullaby feature. I honestly didn’t think I would use this feature since my little ones were one and older but they really loved it and it helped calm them and get them to sleep. I love that it tells me the temperature of their room. Thankfully our house and all the rooms stay at the same temperature but I’ve lived in houses that certain rooms are a little cooler or warmer and so I can see how this would be an even more helpful feature in that regard! I liked the eco mode and that it dims the lights for the evening! And that was really my only issue with the monitor. At night the blinking blue lights could be a bit bright and flashy. I had my sensitivity down lower and it just was a bit brighter than I liked. Although I will say I just turned the eco mode on and turned it towards a wall, I could still hear and it helped with the brightness of the lights flashing. Also it may have just been I have wave sounds going on in my babies room. So the monitor caught that and flashed a lot. Had it been crying that might have been that much better to wake me up to have blue lights flashing. I say all this to say it wouldn’t be a feature that would keep me from buying this monitor. It’s pros way outweighs any con. And also I think this is just a personal preference of mine. I liked the length of the cord for the parent monitor. My plugs were not close to my bed and the monitor reached all the way to my nightstand! I also like having the talk feature it’s helpful to let them know I’m on my way! I am looking forward to using it with our new baby coming in July! It has some features that will be helpful for a new baby like the baby feeding timer. Unfortunately at this time I couldn’t use that feature, but I thought it was a neat feature to include! I am very glad I had the chance to receive and try out the Phillips Avent Dect audio monitor through the weeSpring Parent Panel.

We had been looking for a second monitor, mostly for traveling and did not want one that needed much set up. The Philips Avent Dect Audio Baby Monitor was perfect for our needs. It is quick and easy to set up and use. Since it is audio only you do not have to worry about positioning a camera. The battery life was great and lasted from 8pm to 8am without being plugged in! There are a variety of lullabies to pick from and it was easy to set to what we wanted. I really liked all the extra features like the room temperature. Which is really nice when traveling. The sound was really clear and it even comes with a belt clip for the parent unit, which my husband really liked. We could move from room to room without having to think about getting the monitor. Overall, this was a perfect second monitor for us. I would not recommend it if you want to have video of the baby and I was also a little disappointed that it does not come with a full user manual. I used this monitor to check on the baby while I shower or other bodily things one has to do. Because the baby sleeps in my room, no need for it to be on during the night. So when I want the luxury of a 5 minute shower or a bath, I turn on the monitor so that I can hear her while I do a self care. She usually does a 2-5 minute cry but she settles down to hear the music coming out of the monitor. The monitor has 5 different songs. And after 10 minutes of music the lullabies stop. The monitor does have a light that can be used as a nightlight. The set up can be easy but you have to charge up both of the monitors first. I made the mistake of not doing so. Please charge first as they both can use batteries and have a charger cord. The two things I really like about the monitor is that I can talk or sing to my baby when she is lightly whimpering. And it has a thermostat on the monitor so I know how if the room is too hot or too cold. I also like the design. It is not intrusive with the flow of the room. If you’re looking for the most amazing Audio baby monitor THIS IS IT!! I have used several different baby monitors and this one is by far the best! I received this monitor for review from the WeeSpring parent panel and I’m so glad I did. We have an almost 4 month old and an 18 month old. We live in a smaller house and were not able to find a monitor that was Audio only and would easily and successfully reach from our youngest’s bedroom to our finished basement where we spend most of our time. We used to always get interference or hear things from other people. Talk about creepy. Lol This monitor has none of that with its DECT technology. The ‘talk-back’ feature works great too. The battery life on parent unit is unmatched. We used it for 2 weeks in the evenings without needing a charge. The night light and the temperature monitoring are also great features. The light is a warm yellow and not too bright but enough for night feedings. Our little guy’s bedroom tends to be the coolest in the house so having the temperature right in front of me is comforting as well. The only things I would change is the ability for a 2nd parent unit & would love to have the baby unit play types of white noise instead of lullabies. This set is the best audio monitor I’ve ever used. I would recommend it to everyone!

The Avent Dect monitor came as a huge upgrade to a simpler model we were using, with tremendously improved audio quality over all other models I have tried. Our neighbor has a monitor as well, but with the Dect we stopped hearing interference from theirs, making me confident in the security of this monitor. The battery life of the parent unit has been quite pleasing, allowing me to carry it around for my son's longest nap and not worry about being tethered to a wall with an electrical outlet. I have also found the ability to customize alerts useful, setting it so my parent unit either lights up or just controlling the volume and sensitivity. My favorite additional feature is the bonus of no longer needing a noise machine or night light in my son's nursery, as the monitor has one built into the baby unit. The Avent Dect Audio Monitor is a great little baby monitor with functional extras. I prefer an audio monitor and am more of a minimal person when it comes to baby gear. I just want the basics and I want them to work really well - less to figure out, more reliable, life is complicated enough without adding to it. If you’re like me, then you will love the Avent Dect! The fun surprise is that on top of being a nice, basic, private audio monitor, they stepped it up a notch and threw in some extras that I didn’t know I needed, but that make life easier. Win-win! I have a couple favorite features on this monitor: the thermometer, the battery life, and the warm glow nightlight. First, the thermometer - I’ve never had one in my kids’ rooms, and I discovered by using this monitor that my son’s room is several degrees cooler than the rest of the house. I suspected it felt colder in there, yes, but it’s just nice to know for sure. I’ve been dressing him a bit warmer to help him sleep better now that I see it really is 4 degrees colder than my room! Secondly, the battery life is awesome. The rechargeable battery means I don’t have to move the plug every time I move the monitor. I leave the plug in one spot during the day, then take just the receiving monitor upstairs all night (or vice versa) and the battery lasts the whole night or the whole day, no problem! Lastly, the audio end of the monitor in baby’s room has a great nightlight that glows a warm amber color. This is perfect, as research has shown the warm light doesn’t affect baby’s circadian rhythm but white/blue light can interfere and wake your little one prematurely! It is actually really difficult to find a warm colored nightlight and I have seen so many products marketed to babies with the blue colored light for bedtime. I appreciate Avent for paying attention to this. I no longer have to take up two plug spots - one for the night light and one for the monitor - or turn on two things. I have the nightlight built right in! A couple other really great features that I have not used as much as I thought (but you might!) are the two-way talk and the lullabies. Both work very well! However, my little one still prefers his lullabies that he is used to listening to rather than the songs built in to the monitor. And I love the idea that I can talk into the monitor and my baby will hear me, I just haven’t found an ocassion yet where it was necessary. The sound on this monitor is great and I had no trouble with the signal anywhere in my house. It seems to be a sturdy and well made device with easily marked buttons. The Philips Advent Dect Audio Baby Monitor is probably one of the best monitors we have ever owned. It was easy to set everything up and connect the devices. I was shocked to see that the receiver was rechargeable and that the batteries actually lasted! My little one sleeps in our bedroom-sized closet which has its own air duct. I have always worried about whether he was too hot or cold. Not anymore! The receiver has a temperature gauge that monitors the temperature in his room in real-time. Such a nice feature! This monitor also comes with a nightlight and lullaby feature that can be turned on and off from the receiver. This is super-helpful when I want to comfort my little one without waking him up completely by me trying to come into his room. Video monitors can create more anxiety than necessary or creat a false sense of security. The only complaint I have about this product is that I wished the full instructions came inside the box. We will definitely be using this monitor for future babies, if my little one would be willing to part with his nightlight and lullaby! This baby monitor is awesome. It's simple to use, with a decent battery life. I liked the ability for notifications, so it didn't keep me guessing. My favorite feature is the fact that the parent receiver is small, sleek, and compact. The screen is very easy to read. The ONLY downfall that I didn't like, was the fact that batteries were only included for the parent receiver, and not the baby receiver. So that was a bummer at first. I would highly recommend this baby monitor if you're looking for a more modernized, simple baby monitor. It definitely has all the bells and whistles that an upscale monitor would have, minus the video aspect. I received this monitor from the weeSpring Parent Panel, and I'm so glad that I did.

I have 2 children and between them, we have experimented with audio, video and wifi monitors. None of which i can say I love and couldn't have lived without. As technology has evolved, I must admit that I have grown accustomed to video monitors so i was a bit unsure of how i would feel about an audio only monitor. The Phillips Avent Dect Audio Baby Monitor has totally changed my mind about the "need" to have the video feature (especially with a baby; toddlers are a whole different story). The monitor was very easy to set up: unbox, insert batteries, clink link and you are in business. The unit is small, sleek and easily hand held. The one thing that sets this monitor apart from others is CLARITY! Its truly crystal clear and NO CLICKING interference sounds. I am able to hear my child breathing and that speaks volumes. My daughters favorite feature is the lullabies ; there are a total of 7. The sound of the lullabies are soft and relaxing and not scary loud. I have often not utilized the lullaby feature due the loud sharpness of the sound; thank you Phillips for getting it right. I also love the fact that there is a timer on the lullaby. Another amazing feature is the soft ambient night light. It gives off just enough light for me to be able to peak in on my daughter and be able to see her without turning on the room light. The monitor has many great features. it is wonderful to be able to see the temperature in my child's room so that I can make the necessary changes (i.e. warmer clothing or adjusting the thermostat) as the temperature drops during the evening. The two way talk feature is awesome. Not only do I use it to let my child know that "mommy's coming" when she is crying but I can also communicate with my husband and older child directions without having to be in the same vicinity of our home. The clarity is amazing on both ends. No more "what did you say?" "I can't hear you over the static". The battery life is pretty impressive. We wanted to test this feature and were quite surprised that it actually lasts 18 hours. Overall this is a great monitor with many useful and practical features. My son is an early sleeper, and his crib is still set up in our room, so having a way to monitor him in those hours when he's asleep and we aren't has been really important. The Philips Avent Detect Audio Baby monitor allowed us to do that in spades. I loved that it was easy to use from the start-from opening the box to complete set up took less than two minutes total! And once it was set up it was really easy to use-the controls were intuitive, and it didn't take long to set up the monitor to my preferred settings. I found that the sound was very clear, both at low and higher volumes, and I didn't have issues with interference (ie. false alarms due to static). There was a nice selection of lullabies, and the nightlight had a nice soft glow. The dimming function on the parental unit was also a huge win. Overall, this is a great monitor that I would highly recommend if you're looking for a non-video baby monitor.
