Philips Norelco Shaver S9000 PrestigeWet & Dry Electric shaver with SenseIQ

I've been a Norelco shaver all my life. It's the only razor in my youth that would not burn my skin, as my father's Shick razor did. With each new innovation, I've ungraded to the latest and best version Philips produces. I've never been disappointed. I'm delighted to see the return of the shaver solution cleaner/lubricant, that I use on a weekly basis.

Excellent razor, very quiet, charge lasts a long time.

Upgraded to this Phillips razor from my old Phillips razor which was about four years old. This electric razor which was more expensive is superior to my older razor in every way. Most importantly it gives a better shave and is easier to clean.

I am 75 years old and have tried a lot of electric razor over my lifetime and was never satisfied until now. This is the easiest, most comfortable, and closest shave I have even gotten from an electric razor. I especially like the automatic cleaning system.

This think works great. I have been using a safety razor for years because traditional and electric razors have always irritated my skin. I wanted to give an electric razor one more time, this time buy a quality product and see what happens. What happened was a perfect shave every time with no irritation at all! I have shaved after the shower and before the shower. I have shaved dry and I have shaved with soap. No matter what, it all works.

I received this luxurious razor Christmas present, I have been using Norelco electric razors for over twenty years and this one is the best! Clean close shaves with a razor that glides across my skin. Charge it about once a month and the self-cleaning feature works wonders, probably extending the life of the blades.

This is the first electric shaver I have purchased and I am 69 years old. I never expected to receive such a close shave from an electric. I certainly suggest using foam or gel to achieve a more comfortable experience. It's quick and even catches hair above my lip. I am sold.

I’ve purchased several electric shavers over the years and none have really impressed me. However, the S9000 is absolutely amazing. I get a better shave than using a razor. I still can’t believe how well this shaver works.

I purchased this S9000 Prestige with qi charging during the holiday sale because my Panasonic foil shaver stopped working. I realize this prestige is now a previous generation, but does utilize the latest blade set generation SH91. I was between this or an I9000 Prestige. I9000 Prestige Ultra was not considered because the price was a good bit higher. Really though, all those led lights, color oled display, extra electronics seemed to me like they would reduce battery life and just something more to break. My history of electric shavers is Norelco 8240XL rotary, then Panasonic ESLV65-S ARC5, then Panasonic LV9FX-S ARC5, and now the S9000 Prestige. The S9000 Prestige is significantly lighter than my foil 9fx shaver. Right away I noticed it is awkward to hold, and appears that Philips wants you to grab the shaver with your entire hand. There is no thumb placement. The next observation is how quiet this is and low rpms even on the highest setting. I have shaved three times now. The first was dry shave, second using Lectric Shave fluid, third time was using Cremo (wet shave). The next observation is the odd noises this emits as the shaver heads flex and pivot. Plastic popping noises are evident from flexing, and squeaking noises are also evident from the blades perhaps squeaking against the metal foils perhaps. These noises are subtle but give off sort of a "low quality" vibe. My 9fx foil shaver did not make any such noises as the head and foils moved around. The next observation is the size of the three shaver head trim bezels around the blade sets. This is realized the most under and around the nose on the upper lip. Turning this upside down allows me to shave the underside of my nose, which I would imagine most guys do not have hair in this area. I have hair everywhere. Upper cheeks up to just under my eyes, my upper lip including the bottom of my nose, entire neck from chin to chest. This requires a good shaver. The common theme of all three shaving styles is repetitive motion over and over on the same areas. Dry shave resulted in a good amount of irritation. Letric shave resulted in slightly less. Both of these methods resulted in around 84% battery life remaining. Cremo shave was more pleasant and resulted in 92% battery remaining. All shaves were around a 2.5 day growth. But even the Cremo shave resulted in some skin irritation and redness. 9FX foil shaver with new ARC5 blade set would have zero redness with lectric shave fluid used. Using Cremo/wetshave with the S9000 Prestige is the best result and results in the closest shave, pretty much on par with my manual Schick razor that has four or five blades. BTW while waiting for the Prestige to arrive, I was shaving with the Schick and forgot how terrible manual shaving is. While a good bit faster, it is just not pleasant at all and tugs badly. Of course, using an after shave helps reduce or eliminate redness almost immediately. I do like the qi wireless charging pad, but this shaver has a corded charging port at the bottom accessible by popping off the bottom cover and is completely useless because it is disabled somehow. It will briefly charge with a cord but then stops charging. Somehow the circuitry cuts off the power and it will not continue charging via cord. Overall, I think my Japan imported LV9FX is a better shaver. I plan to find a replacement battery somewhere for my Panasonic foil shaver. Because I bought it from Japan, the LV9FX-S allows you to shave while plugged in a charging, which is pretty cool. US models do not allow this due to US safety standards, despite this model being completely safe to wet shave while charging. The FX shaver is crazy loud however, and using it near your ears it is almost deafening but man does it work well. It is total champ under the nose on the upper lip. Using a new ARC5 inner and outer foil set with gold rollers, shaving is quick and is a breeze with no redness. The downside is the lowest price for an ARC5 inner and outer bade set is 50 bucks for a previous generation with plastic guides. The ARC5 inner/outer blade set with gold rollers is around 65. After several months, sharpness is reduced. I can get around 1 to 1.5 years from the ARC5 inner and outer foil blade set. Another selling point for the Prestige however is the fact that apparently you can sharpen the SH90 / SH91 blades on a whetstone. If this is the case, this could be a huge selling point for this rotary. There is no way to self sharpen blades on an ARC5 foil blade set. Overall this S9000 Prestige seems to be a good shaver. I plan to locate a previous generation head assembly with round trim bezels rather than these new square heads. With round heads, it will likely perform better on the upper lip and around the nose. It is nifty that the head assembly pops off. Planning to also buy a pop on nose trimmer and also an adjustable comb trimmer assembly from a different model that uses the same pop on head apparatus. Overall, I like my Panasonic ESLV9FX-S better. It really is a beast, and just needs a new battery. FYI, the Panasonic ESLV cleaning stations and wireless charging stations do not last long at all. The drain is extremely tight and clogs, requiring a drill bit, and clogs again even after disassembling the unit and drilling the drain, requiring glue and modifications if you tear it. I might buy a cleaning station for this Philips rotary shaver to see how it works. Lastly, this S9000 Prestige has no plastic protective head cover. I find that very odd and will have to take extra precautions to protect the head during travel, etc.
