This is a great product! We live in San Diego, CA and our water is 'very hard' according to an at home test. We've always used a water filter, but a drip set up in the fridge. The hassle of lugging the jug to and from the fridge wasn't ideal and the water still wasn't as low as hoped with our Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) monitor, sitting in the low 200's after filtering. We decided to get this filter not only for its cold water function, but the reverse osmosis filter. WOW! Did our water taste better. Foods we cook like; broths, rice, and lentils all taste more true to their flavor with filtered water. The TDS of our tap water registers on the machine as "999" which is the highest number. After filtration, the number is a mere "10" on our home tester and the Philips monitor. The only exception to this exceptional product is that the heated water is produced at a cooler temperature than stated. The "Hot" function for 203 degrees F only dispenses at 180 degrees. Not a big difference for my use of oatmeal and teas, but of note. This is made up for by the powerhouse that is the cool water function. Fresh from the fridge cool and it refills/cools quickly.

The water tastes better than all bottled brands. Setup was easy. Having a cold water dispenser precludes the need to refrigerate carafes. Hot water feature is great for occasional use. The compressor used for refrigeration sounds a bit like a refrigerator because it appears to be built with high grade components making the unit a bit heavy. By adding felt pads to the rubber feet I can slide the unit sideways on my counter to empty and refill the main 1.6 gallon water container. The water carafe is a useful feature when filling coffeemakers or cooking pots. This unit is simply outstanding. It’s build quality is impressive. I would highly recommend to anyone who will use it near the sink in a kitchen environment where the refrigerator compressor sounds are typical.

so far, so great! the water that comes out is amazingly fresh and tasty. Heavy and beautiful, it really shows how polluted our regular tap drinking water is. easy to use and with the hot water dispenser, i can have instant tea without having to boil my water in a kettle. Thank you Phillips for helping me get back to healthier living!
