This recall involves Philips 60W PAR 16 120V halogen bulbs manufactured from November 2013 to March 2015. Date codes that represent the month and year of production are painted on the bulb glass along with “PHILIPS Halogena PAR 16,” “China” and “60W/120/V.” Recalled bulb date codes include:
The outer glass lens may shatter as a result of being exposed to the normal heat and pressure inside of these light bulbs, causing in pieces of glass falling from the ceiling. Additionally, the glue which attaches the glass lens to the body of the bulb can fail and cause the lens to fall and potentially shatter upon impact. Note also that the interior of the light bulb is hot, and thus, until the glass cools, the falling glass also presents a risk of burning. Accordingly, we have initiated a voluntary recall of the affected units in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”).
