Philips Saeco InteliaSuper-automatic espresso machine

Machine makes a consistently good cup of coffee/ espresso and the steam wand is really easy to use. There is a maintenance cycle which is pretty easy to do weekly. But it is worth it for the ease of use and consistency.

I've had this unit for so many years that I've lost count (probably at least 5-6). Compared to models I'd had previously, I've found the operation to be relatively simple and the maintenance to be fairly easy. The only problems I've ever had have been self-induced (like over-filling the hopper, then pressing the lid down, jamming the grinder chute with a whole bean) -- even in those cases, diagnosis was simple and I was able to correct the problems myself. I probably don't maintain the system with the frequency indicated in the documentation suggests but I've tried to stay on top of maintenance with this unit more than prior machines and doing so has really paid off in reliability. The shot quality (even with somewhat "oily beans") has been consistent over time. It really has been good value for the price. Even with the price of this unit and the cost of high quality beans from the local roaster, I'm having better quality, far more convenience, and huge cost savings over patronizing local chain coffee spots.

The biggest problem with this machine is the temptation to start overdoing coffee consumption. Flavor is great and usage pretty easy. Here's the part between the lines. - One time the brew unit jammed in mid-cycle (while trying to get to an airplane flight, of course). The puck bin was held by the brew unit. Finally we were able to disassemble them together, clean them, then carefully reassemble the jigsaw puzzle. When turned back on, the machine cycled to the correct starting point. It hasn't happened a second time. - Daily cleaning is easy, but requires multiple steps: 1. rinse the frother, 2. empty the puck bin, 3. remove and rinse the small brew unit catch tray, 4. remove and rinse the brew unit, 5. remove and rinse the big catch tray, and, finally 6. rinse and refill the water reservoir.

This is a great coffee maker. This is the best Saeco so far as I have had several over the years. This one has a feature that I like alot. The coffee is REAL HOT after brewing unlike the previous models I have owned. It also allows you to stop the water flow at anytime during the brewing to create an individual brew. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

We use to have a Saeco Vienna that made perfect coffee and good espresso and now we have the Intelia which is better at the espresso than the coffee. I still love this and the cappuccino is great and it frothed the milk well. So far so good but we have only had it a couple months.

I've owned 3 Saeco Coffee Machines and this is the best one so far. Great improvements; it is very quiet and produces hotter coffee than my first two models.

We bought this Saeco unit to replace another Saeco that had broken after two years. It makes great coffee and espresso. We hope it lasts longer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On other machines it cost from 0.75 to 1.25 a cup and not always the best coffee. For between 0.25 to 0.30 got way better coffee Downside: 1) the recipient for water is too small and with the auto-clean is always empty 2) no previous warning that the water is too low... result half a cup of coffee

I own two because of ease of coffee production. However requires excessive maintenance and also shows spurious signals now and then, dredge drawer needs emptying when barely full, insufficient beans when hopper full. Low water doesn't always show on shut off or start causing operational problems. However customer telephone support has been wonderful.
