Philips AventNatural nipple

I am nursing a newborn and returning for work soon. I wanted to try the avent bottles to see how my baby would take to them before returning to work. First of all, it was super helpful to have different nipple choices to choose from. The 0mo+ nipples have a slow enough flow that my 7week old does not choke when trying to drink. I have also noticed that he is not sucking in as much air, so this helps with gas and burping. My baby took to this nipple size very well. As he grows, he will probably prefer a faster flow and we will try the next size up. I was given this product to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel.

With my Little One, we struggled with nipple confusion from when he was given a pacifier in the hospital and that first week home was exhausting for both of us. When we had to start using bottles, this nipple made the transition wonderful. I was on egg shells about introducing another nipple after struggling with confusion and frustration so early on; but this nipple was PERFECT! The nipple is incredibly soft and flexible and my little one latched on easily. I am so glad that it was the first nipple we tried and had success with. I'm the lucky mom of three little girls, and we recently started a bottle for the third. It's been five years since the middle kiddo was born, and I've forgotten a ton. However, I do know that the other two took to a bottle easily, and it didn't matter what bottle. We had a few types, and I could interchange them with no issue. This third though...super stubborn. I experimented with a dozen brands of different shapes, textures, and flows, including the Philips Natural First Flow we got from the weeSpring Parent Panel. She completely rejected bottles that the other two took. In the end, the Philips one was one of the only two she'll take. Like formula or pacifiers, I think it's really hard to understand why a baby takes to one brand/shape/taste over another, and it often feels like there's no rhyme or reason. However, to me, the nipple feels softer and more flexible, like a real nipple than hard plastic. Additionally, the flow seemed fast enough to not frustrate her, but slow enough to not gag – just like Goldilocks.

My 12 week old son took to this nipple very easily. He is exclusively breastfed and only takes a bottle about once a week. This nipple was great for him. I didn't notice any extra gas or fussiness, which is a great thing! They fit nicely into the Philips bottles and didn't have any leakage. I would recommend these for breastfed babies! My 9 week old does excellent with the first flow. He only gets a bottle once a week, so to me it is important for him not to get nipple confusion. He doesn't choke or spit up like faster flowing ones. The textured nipple is another win for me.

When my daughter was born I found that many if not all level 1 nipples had a flow that was way too fast for her. I did some research and found the first flow, she was able to use this nipple with no problems and at the time I was also breastfeeding, no nipple confusion. Would definitely recommend.

My baby is almost 3 months and she is used the very first flow since she was 2 weeks old. She was a small baby and considered a preemie although she was a 39 week term baby. We had problems when it came to latching because her coordination was very poor due to her tiny size. After being in the NICU unit for 2 weeks (Being feeding the main problem why she stayed at the hospital) we worked on breastfeeding and formula supplementing. We used the very first flow along with breastfeeding and it was a success. The texture of the nipple is excellent and very soft. It helps the baby to provide comfort and the flow mimics the effort of breastfeeding. I'm very happy with this nipple. We have tried the number 2 flow but she didn't like it, she misses the texture. The very first flow is the only one designed to have the special texture and softness ( the others feel kind of rubbery). We will continue using this one. We really want to try 0+ in the future :)

I`m overall very happy with the Avent system. My baby used this nipple size until about 3-4 months and it worked great. Some of the other companies make size 1 nipples that are too slow for normal newborns and this was perfect. She doesn`t spill too much with it but every now and then she does. I use a bib so it`s not a big deal. I should mention I received this product for free.

I received a free sample in exchange for agreeing to write a review. The shape of the nipple is great for breastfed babies who also may need to supplement with formula. My baby didn't have `nipple confusion` when using these nipples. The nipple is flexible, but sturdy which helps keep it from collapsing during the `hard` sucking.

Loved these nipples as they worked very well. The flow of milk was perfect and not too much like other bottles. I did receive these in exchange for writing this review but I would definitely purchase these if I had the chance.
