Blu-ray home theater system

Its great. Minus the no satelite radio. or say Pandora with the netflicks.

I recently bought this product and Sony BDV-E280. Compared the two products head to head for the same music and Philips was so much better. The output from the speakers was almost twice as much as Sony in its maximum volume and the quality of sound was pristine. The video quality is fantastic as well. Philips won hands down in every aspect. Philips could have done a better job with screen interface-feels old style and very slow navigating between the icons on the screen. If you can put up with the slowness of the interface - this is a one of a kind product.

Fantastic sound, Easy to use. Wi fi works great! Picture is Beautiful!!!!!! Dont waste your time looking at anything else. This has everything.

Great unit. Bought it as a refurb to replace an older model Philips home theater. Easy to use. Powerful sound. Worked well with television surround and Blu Ray discs. Unfortunately, it died on us yesterday without warning. Very disappointed, but we used it daily... 3 year life for daily use is about what you can expect.

its a good product until it just stop working it just show the Philips sigh an does nothing else i did the unplug thing an i reset it nothing work

I purchased this unit at Walmart after trying three other brands, none of which worked, I got this one and so far it has worked. I was replacing a Philips so I was happy to get another one. The last one lasted 6 yrs so if this one lasts that long I will be happy. One thing I don't like is the fact that the speakers have the red/black wires and they are loud and bulky. Also, they are too short. You need to have a really small living room to make them work. I would suggest longer speaker wire and the old color that fades into the background. Other than the above, the Philips is definitely my choice of brands.

This unit packs with all the starter Blu-Ray Home Theater system. It is a 5.1 system with rich sound (not an Earth shattering sound). Built-in wireless connectivity (and wired), Vudu Apps, Netflix access, SD card, MP3 Line input and HDMI out are outstanding features of this unit. However, it only has one analog audio input and one digital audio input and no HDMI input or component input. If you are having multiple devices, you may need to tweak your connections to cope up with this. I connected all the devices to TV and driving this unit through TV's audio out. With TV setup to deliver audio through the audio out (instead of TV speakers), I could get the sound through this unit in digital.

Disapointed with certain features. 'Vudu apps' is kind of a joke. Expected netflix to work more like it does on console systems. In order to use netflix you have to sign into your netflix account and add things to your 'instant queue' you can't simply browse and choose a movie directly on the device. (not sure if this is the case with all blu-ray/smart tv/other streaming devices). No Pandora :( or even any other internet radio support. So far, blu-ray playback is excellent. Surround sound is great. People who claim it doesn't support surround sound through external devices are wrong. However, with this, or any other surround system, it can be somewhat tricky to get surround sound from other sources. The ideal way to get surround sound from your cable/gamesystems/etc to play through this device requires several things: first: your tv must support digital audio output (preferably coax digital audio output, since the device does not have an optical cable input, and would require a converter to change the signal from optical to coax) (I am 90% sure that you can NOT get surround sound by using the analog audio output from your tv) second your device's connection to the tv must support surround sound... which in most cases means HDMI cable, if your game system's sound is connected to the tv by the red and white audio cable you are using analog sound, not digital, and will only get Left and Right channels. third: the 'source' must support surround sound, if you aren't watching something that claims it has surround sound, you are extremely unlikely to get it to work. fourth: the surround sound mode on the device must be set to the correct 'mode', the kids are currently watching "Rio" in HD on demand from HBO through comcast and using the above method to connect the audio from the tv, the cable box is connected by HDMI cable to the tv, the tv is connected BACK to the philips home theatre system by simply using the unused (yellow connectors) video cable from the coax digital out on the tv, to the coax digital in on the HTS3106 AND the surround sound mode is set to Dolby Digital Movie mode (in 'direct' mode - the default - surround sound did not work). With all that, surround sound is working just fine. (using an actual digital audio cable might provide a better signal, but this is working ok since I don't have such a cable yet)

This six speaker home theater system sounds great. It would have been even better if it had more inputs. When I purchased it I thought it had wireless speakers, which it does not have.

We are boxing it up and taking it back. We were expecting it to be a surround sound for everything use, not just during blu-ray use. Also it doesn't come with all the cords which is an extra purchase. Glad there are reviews that's how we found out it wouldn't work for every day use, after 2 days of wondering what we could be doing wrong. I am sure it's a good system for what it does, like the brand.
